Penburren (The Annexe) @ Minster Farm West

Minster Farm is a former farm in Much Birch, south Herefordshire and 'Penburren' (The Annexe) is a new contemporary living space in a converted outbuilding, which like the farm itself dates back over 150 years. Much Birch is a rural, yet well connected village, being located mid-way between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford on the A49, near to the River Wye AONB. We are ideally situated with easy access to Hay-on-Wye, the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean, Malvern Hills, and the Cotswolds. The space Penburren is a spacious and relaxing self-contained holiday let with a recently added 2 seater, wood fired hot tub (for an extra charge - please message for details). The location of Penburren benefits from being conveniently close to the A49, for exploring Herefordshire and beyond! Southbound takes you to Ross on Wye, May Hill and the Forest of Dean. To the east is the Wye Valley (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the north, you have the Cathedral city of Hereford, as well as the medieval black-and-white villages of Herefordshire. Traveling west, will take you to Hay-on-Wye, as well as into Wales for exploring the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and Offas Dyke. Going a little further a field, you have the Cotswolds and all its beauty, which is just over an hours drive away. More locally, and just minutes away, guests can be experiencing the quiet of the nearby countryside, beautiful views and a number of local walks including Aconbury Woods and Athelstan Woods. Penburren accommodation itself comprises of a separate bedroom with king size bed, wardrobe and drawer space, dressing table or workstation, with a large en-suite comprising a toilet, good size sink, large shower enclosure and heated towel rail. The open-plan lounge, kitchen/diner has a 'farm house kitchen' and includes a fully equipped kitchen, with a fridge/freezer, cooker, induction hob, microwave and small appliances. There is a table and chairs for 4, and tea, coffee, biscuits, and milk will be provided ready for your arrival. The lounge area includes a sofa, and TV on floating cupboards which houses, books, games and puzzles for your use. Of particular note, the sofa will pull out to a double bed, ideal for small children or an extra guest. However, be mindful that the ensuite is situated in the bedroom area. To add an extra guest by prior arrangement, there is a charge of £20 per person per night. There are electric heaters within both rooms, that have a timer function, and can be set for your comfort on returning from a day exploring the local surroundings. Your Pooches are welcome if they are well behaved and are one medium or two small sized, but please register your pets when booking. Outside of Penburren is an enclosed south facing courtyard to the front for outdoor dining / relaxing, which benefits from the sun for most of the day, but with excellent outside lighting when dusk appears. It is equipped with a garden table and chairs for al-fresco dining, as well as a compact 2 seater, wood fired hot tub with jets and a light, for relaxing with a wine or beer (or two!) and perfect for when the sun starts to set after a busy (or not so busy) day. In regard towards the hot tub, there is a small use additional cost to cover the cost of the wood, maintenance and cleaning. Please advise via message, if you require the hot tub hire and the water heated before the evening of arrival, as it will take a bit of time to fill and heat. There is an outside sink for washing muddy boots or muddy paws. Dog towels and bowls can be provided if required. There is ample free parking adjacent to the building. Guest access Penburren is self contained and separate to Minster Farm, providing dedicated accommodation for our guests with an enclosed courtyard space for outside eating / relaxing. TV and Wi-Fi access are also included. Other things to note The king size bed will be made up and there will be pillows and bedding available for the sofa bed if required. Also available in the booking price is towels and kitchen linen. There is a PIR light in the courtyard; just remember to turn it on if you are going out in the evening. For guest who are staying longer, use of our washing machine will be available by arrangement for a fee. Check in is 3pm or later. Check out is by 11am.
