Welcome to our historic getaway, The Stone Cottage on Whittington, as you experience small town Mount Ida, Arkansas. This recently updated, bright, and airy craftsman cottage greets you with ample light, crisp painted walls, and the sound of hardwood underfoot. Whether you are looking to cuddle up with a good book or breathe in the fresh scent of loblolly pine, the cottage provides solitude while being embraced by nature in a quaint downtown setting in the heart of Ouachita National Forest. The Stone Cottage on Whittington provides a home away from home. Upon entry, guests are welcomed by an open, walk through living room and kitchen. Decorations reflect the subtleness and historic feel of the local area, while prompting feelings of nostalgia. The living space provides a small couch, two comfortable recliners, additional lighting, and 50' smart TV above the fireplace with Wi-Fi throughout the space. The kitchen provides fully stocked essentials for most needs: Stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, range, microwave, granite counters, a farmhouse table for four, common cooking and dining utensils, dishes, glassware, pots/pans, some spices, and a live edge wooden coffee bar with Keurig and toaster. Through the living room you have ease of access to the full historic bathroom. The shower and powder area has been updated to provide ample room and plenty of hot water, while keeping the charm and character of the original home. Fresh towels and common soaps are provided to help ease your travels. Two guest rooms await our travelers with crisp linens lining each bed. One room is furnished with a king-sized bed and the other with a queen. Both are furnished with dressers, tables, lamps, ample plug-ins, and closet with plenty of room to unpack. The smaller room provides access to a washer and dryer set and extended sunroom space with its own outside entrance. Wi-Fi is provided throughout the house. Central heat and air creates the home away from home feel. Sorry, no pets allowed. Check-Out by 11:00a.m. and Check-In 4:00-10:00p.m. Guests will have access to the entire pictured house via the front doors using the provided door code, all appliances, any kitchen supplies, and all amenities, excluding the owners closets and the shed in the backyard. We provide amenities in the bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room with enough to get you started on your trip. We do not provide excess for more than a couple of days' worth if needed and guests are responsible for purchasing additional items for personal use if they run out during their stay. The actual downtown area, restaurants, and courthouse are just around the corner within easy walking distance. The neighborhood around the Cottage is surrounded by well-kept quaint homes up and down the street. To the east along Whittington Street are a few churches, one in fact plays chimes on the hour and hymns at certain times of the day, and the Mt. Ida high school is just about a block or two to the west. It's a great neighborhood for taking a stroll or sitting on the front porch and watching others take a stroll. The driveway in front of the cottage is sufficient to park one to three vehicles. Parking on the street is not encouraged as there's not adequate street width. The neighborhood is perfect for walking or biking short distances. There is a walking path to the west of the cottage and around the corner on Luzerne St past the Methodist church and behind the medical clinic.
