We have spent a year carefully remodeling our house to become “classy, but original”, “cozy, but practical”, and “modern, but simple”. We have furnished the home with my father’s design furniture, combined with up-cycled furniture and local material. The main entrance will welcome you to our humble abode, with space for shoes and jackets, staircase to second floor, and access to kitchen and living room. Floors are original wood-plank floors, we found original wall aquarelle paint behind all the wallpaper that we tore down. We saved a section on the wall for you to enjoy the original feeling. The kitchen has been remodeled with modern cabinets, dishwasher, stove, and a kitchen island where you can sit and work or read the morning newspaper. From the kitchen is a door to the garden, which also gives you a shortcut to a grocery store with amazing baked goods only 200 meters away. From the kitchen you have access to the dining room with a sliding door in between. The dining room is partly furnished with my late father’s design furniture, similar to those he designed for the S:t Nikolai catholic church (in Ystad (60 minutes drive from our home). It has great a view to the backyard, and open access to the living room. The living room is a roomy, comfy space with some design furniture as well, like the Jetson chairs. A wall mounted smart TV will give you access to Netflix, SVT Play, and other online TV services. From the living room you can enter the entrance again through the original stained glass doors, and find the staircase up to the master bedroom on the second floor and the staircase down to the basement guest-room and laundry facilities. You will love our master bedroom on the second floor, where we have opened up the entire floor to become one large room with vaulted ceiling. Additionally we built a new bathroom with shower and floor-heating. You will sleep like a log in this amazing silent chamber, and wake up the sun rising and birds chirping outside in the garden. The home has an additional two fold up beds in case you are more guests. We will charge an additional 200SEK/night/person. The guest bedroom in the basement has two nice windows to let the morning sun in, but is blocking out all noise from the outside to provide you with a silent haven if you want to sleep in, or have a private conference call. Next to the guest-room is a full bathroom with shower and towel heater, and access to the storage and laundry room with a separate exit/entrance from the garden. The laundry room has a normal set of washer and dryer, and a laundry rack for air drying of clothes. The garden is a carefully designed haven of fruit trees and berry bushes, with access to a small gravel road and birch grove. Guest access The guests will be able to access all spaces in the house except for the private storage in the basement and the storage shed in the garden. We ask our guests to be mindful how they use the space and honor the hard work we have put in to create this quaint oasis, and help us with a sustainable living, not to be wasteful of power and water. Other things to note From our home you have walking distance to Råå, grocery stores, a Spa, shops, Systembolaget, restaurants, and much more. From Råå harbor you can take a boat to Ven, an amazingly beautiful island with an incredible history; the foundation of Tycho Brahe's work was laid here. Tycho Brahe was a larger than life aristocratic astronomer whose observations became the foundation for a new understanding of the solar system and ultimately gravity. Brought up by an uncle who had kidnapped him, Tycho defied both his natural and foster parents to become a scientist rather than a nobleman at the Royal Court. Never one to refuse liquor or back down in an argument, as a young man he lost most of his nose in a duel. He continued to argue vehemently with a variety of foes for the rest of his life. In addition to being an extraordinary character, Tycho was a brilliant astronomer, whose work was substantially more accurate than his peers. His lunar theory was the best ever devised, and he produced data for the best star catalog that had ever been compiled. His outstandingly rigorous observations enabled his one-time assistant Johannes Kepler to discover that planets move around the sun in elliptical orbits.
