A peaceful sanctuary, only five minutes by car from the town centre, yet feels like deep country, this old-style home is surrounded by an acre and a half of woodland and garden, filled with visiting bird life and butterflies. Your comfortable, spacious room combines old world charm (hot and cold rain water, wooden floors, sash windows) with the modern convenience of high speed internet. Enjoy a peaceful meditation in the sun, a Reiki/ reflexology treatment, or even an art class! The space I know you think it will be hot , but it won't. Mandeville is in the cool hills (2000ft up) and my home is on top of a breezy hill. No need for air conditioning, just open the windows. You might even need a blanket in the night. If you are a birding enthusiast, this is your spot. Wake up to the sound of the woodpeckers. During the day, you may hear (or see) cuckoos, humming birds, pigeons and doves, visiting warblers and redstarts, and that weird sound at 4 am? that's the resident Jamaican brown owls hunting. Guest access Aside from your personal space (bedroom and en suite bathroom) you have exclusive use of the guest lounge, equipped with fridge, microwave, bottled water and cable TV, books, toys and board games for the family. I do not recommend this space for babies or toddlers but for older children it's fine (say 5 yrs and up).You are also welcome to use all outdoor spaces, which include two different eating areas, the downstairs powder room and dining room for indoor eating if it rains. There are also great outdoor spaces for nature walks and bird watching, but bring closed shoes if you are thinking of walking in the "forest" During your stay I will take my cue from you. Some folks want to decompress without social interaction, some to get to know me and my experience of my home island. Either way I am here on property to answer your questions and help you make the most of your time in Jamaica.
