In 1961, a group of national servicemen who retreated from Yunnan and Myanmar to Taiwan landed on this highland farm. After the war, they started a new home here. The early living environment was so difficult. To be honest, I was still young at the time, and I didn't really suffer, but all the testimonies were engraved on my parents' hands. In my childhood memories, there was no such thing as a mechanical hand, and the terraced fields built up by stones were all opened up by my parents with their bare hands. But hard work does not necessarily pay off. In the summer harvest season, sudden typhoons often sweep away the alpine vegetables and fruits that are to be harvested. I remember on the night of a big typhoon, I could feel the house shaking in the wind, and my father desperately held the creaking door, fearing that the entire wooden bungalow would be swept away by the gale.
