Family friendly sober campus- no alcohol, tobacco products, vaping, or illegal drugs allowed on the property. 6 foot tall, fully fenced yard for well-behaved, quiet dogs. The space This property is a split level home on a generous size corner lot. The entire lower level will be accessible to guests. This includes 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a laundry room, a kitchenette, a dining area, a family room, and access to the backyard. The laundry room and the backyard are shared space and we walk through the lower level family room to get there. I do approximately 3 loads of laundry per week. I let my dogs out once in the morning, once midday, and a final time before bed. Aside from this, the lower level will be all yours! A respectful teenager and two standard poodles live upstairs so expect some daytime noise including walking around, water running, vacuuming, and occasional barking. I work from home so I monitor noise and will put the dogs' anti-bark collars on as needed. The bedroom and bathroom doors lock from the inside and guests will have exclusive use of these spaces. The bedrooms are carpeted and the rest of the space are hard floors. The backyard fence runs the length of the house and is 6 feet tall with a latching gate. It is primarily a dog area. There is a side yard available exclusively for people which has a beautiful weeping willow to provide shade. However, bugs are often bad or very bad in the late spring through early fall. The entire house is up to code including smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and egress windows and recently passed inspection by the Department of Health. The kitchenette is a work in progress. For now, dishes will need to be washed in a dish tub in the laundry room sink and dishes can dry on a towel atop the washing machine. There is a small fridge with freezer, a microwave, a toaster oven, a small crockpot, a hot pot, and a coffee maker. I will be adding more appliances soon as well. On the plus side, I will have some fabulous coffee from our local Northwoods Roasterie as well as some amazing tea options, featuring our local Abdi-Mayfield Farms tea. Also available will be gluten-free, corn-syrup free oatmeal options. I will have local honey and maple syrup as well for you to use while you're here. If you'd like to purchase some tea, coffee, maple syrup, or honey to take with you, I will have some available for sale. If you pre-arrange, I can also have a small carton of organic cream waiting for you in the fridge. In the laundry room on the lower level, a shared washer and dryer are available for your use. I will also use the washer/dryer occasionally. There is fragrance-free laundry powder provided along with vinegar and stain remover/digestive enzymes options. Because of the soft water, less detergent is required. See posted instructions and ask if you have questions. Please do not bring in other laundry products without permission. Keep laundry room door closed in general. Guest access Guests will access the front door to the home using a code. It is a short flight of steps down to the lower level. Please keep the backyard fence latched closed at all times. There is a safety bar for the lower level sliding doors which prevents the door from opening from the outside. I will put the safety bar in the sliding door when I finish letting the dogs in at night. If you reopen the sliding door, please replace the bar afterwards to secure the space. Other things to note In alignment with my values, I will not be providing individual toiletries like little shampoo bottles or individually wrapped soap which generate a lot of waste. There will be a pump bottle of fair-trade hand soap and a refillable bottle of shampoo available for your use while you’re here. Both are naturally fragranced with essential oils. Please use them and then leave them for the next visitors. If they are running low, let me know and I will refill them. Unscented castile soap is available upon request. An air filter (HEPA + ionizer) is available for your use while you visit. If you have questions, ask. We are on Shafer city water which comes from very deep local wells. The water is very hard so we soften. It is safe to drink, but I don’t care for the softened taste. A Berkey water filter is available for your use. Please follow posted instructions if you’d like filtered water. And feel free to ask.
