Cornwallis Cottage in Appledore sits at the end of a row of pretty coloured fisherman's cottages, on a quiet cobbled street, moments from the quay. This dog friendly cottage boasts breathtaking views over the estuary, wonderful sunny walled garden and two inviting sitting rooms, each centred around a cosy wood burner for ultimate relaxation. Full of character and beautifully decorated with a mix of contemporary furnishings, premium linens and antique finds, style and comfort is at the forefront. The space This welcoming escape provides the perfect setting for couples or friends and family to gather. Offering generous space for everyone or an indulgent retreat for two. A beautiful place for you to relax, unwind and enjoy meaningful time together. KITCHEN A wonderful open plan kitchen, floored in slate with a range of rustic painted wooden and brass cabinets and a retro style dining table seating 6. This well equipped kitchen with all the modern conveniences, is perfect for informal bunches and cosy suppers. Relaxed seating around a cracking fire to the other end, creates a wonderful warm, social space, the heart of the home , made for sharing food, stories and unhurried time together. FRONT SITTING ROOM An inviting sitting room, with deep moody green walls and soft linen furnishings, together with a wood burning fire, creates a cocoon of comfort. The shelves are filled with a range of reading delights and games, the perfect spot for you to relax of an evening or when the weather turns. FIRST FLOOR There are two bedrooms and a family bathroom, with a large shower and separate bath. All the bedrooms have comfy mattresses and are dressed in soft Egyptian cotton linens, pretty coloured bedspreads and an eclectic mix of contemporary and up cycled antique furnishings. To the front of the house a large bright south facing king, with views out of a near floor to ceiling wooden sash window towards the estuary. Painted wooden floors, fluffy rugs and a contemporary gas fire in the chimney breast, all add to the serenity of this room. Looking over the garden to the back is a lovely twin bedroom, perfect for kids. This bedroom can also be made into a super king bedroom to make extra special for an additional couple. ATTIC Stairs leading from the middle of the landing take you up and straight into a stunning vaulted super king suite, with wonderful far reaching views across roof tops to the estuary, Instow and sea beyond, through two large double glazed windows at the end of the bed. A bedroom of dreams, this space is ideal for lingering mornings spent with a good book, watching the scenery slowly transform with the ebb and flow of the tide. GARDEN To the rear is a beautiful sunny walled garden adorned with festoon lighting, partly slate paved, grassed and decked. Dressed with an inviting outdoor seating area and table perfect for Al fresco dining, chilled morning coffees or drinks as you watch the sun go down. BBQ ON REQUEST. There is side access into the garden from Alpha Place, perfect for bike access. To the front of the house is a small sunny terrace, with cafe style seating, the perfect spot to sit with the papers and cuppa. ACCESS At the front of the property there are two wide steps leading up to the front door. The side garden gate has 5 steps inside leading you up to the garden and a couple down to the back door. There is also a step from kitchen into the wash room and down into the 1st floor bathroom from landing. HOUSE POSITION The house over looks a quiet pedestrian only cobbled lane, with gardens on the opposite side. Alpha place is positioned 5 minutes walk up the hill from the quay and waters edge. There are numerous independently owned cafes, pubs and restaurants, dotted sympathetically amongst the cottages and along the quay side in Appledore. No chains or strips to be found. Beach access is a boat ride from the quay over to Instow or 1.5 km walk or car/bike ride along the estuary at Westward Ho! APPLEDORE Appledore is a picturesque village, steeped in a rich seafaring history. Wander the labyrinth of charming narrow streets with pretty coloured cottages, hidden cafes, restaurants, art galleries and quaint little gift shops. The bustling quayside is a 3 minutes walk, here you can catch a boat across the estuary to the sandy shores of Instow, enjoy crabbing with the kids on the quay with an ice cream or sit and watch the boats go by with a deli delight from John's of Appledore. Northam Burrows, an area of outstanding natural beauty, is a picturesque walk or cycle away. A beautiful semi wild landscape with grassy plains, salt marshes, sand dunes and wild horses, intertwined with the Royal North Devon golf course, one of the oldest in England and flanked by the sweeping sand of Westwood Ho! Beach. Westwood Ho! beach, over 2 km of beautiful sand, perfect for surfing, boogy boarding and swimming. There’s a cafe to the sand dunes towards Appledore and a large car park. Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe are all close by. Sofa seating around a wood burner with a wall TV. CLOAKROOM AND WASHROOM - off the kitchen with separate washing machine and tumble drier and downstairs WC. SITTING ROOM - books, games, Smart TV with Netflix access and DVD player. 1ST FLOOR A KING BEDROOM, with a contemporary gas fire in the chimney breast and discrete wall mounted TV, Egyptian Cotton linen sheets, pretty Indian print bed throw and fluffy white bath sheet for each guest. TWIN BEDROOM OR SUPERKING ON REQUEST - Egyptian Cotton linens and either beautiful wool blankets or throws and fluffy white bath sheet for each guest. (Small additional charge for Super king change, please enquire). LARGE FAMIILY BATHROOM - bath, separate shower hand towel, bath mat and luxury hand soap. 2ND FLOOR SUPERKING BEDROOM SUITE - Comfy superking bed, Egyptian Cotton linens and pretty bed throw. ENSUITE - Large shower, fluffy white bath sheet for each guest, hand towel and bath mat. The water front quay with cafes, pubs and restaurants its only a 5 minute walk and Beach access a boat ride from quay or 1.5 km walk or car/bike ride along estuary.
