Wilde House is a lovingly restored, 130 year old, three-bedroom railmaster's cottage. Nestled in the foothills of Gariwerd (The Grampains), Wilde House is the perfect country escape, surrounded by peaceful nature. The space Our period house includes all of the modern comforts and double height ceilings. Walk into our open and fully equiped kitchen with a free standing oven and cook top. Cooking in our stocked kitchen is easy with all the tools you need, from Le Creuset cookware to a pasta maker. Wake up in our spacious bedrooms with comfortable mattresses, high quality linen and windows that let in the nature and light. Perched next to our wood heater (firewood supplied for winter bookings), our dining room with a generous solid messmate table is the perfect space for entertaining. Surround sound hifi and chrome cast means you can stream your favourite movies and music through the TV and hifi system from anywhere in the house. Outside, you'll follow the wrap around veranda leading to our Weber BBQ, outdoor patio, grassed area and firepit. Out the back is the dam and fireplace. The fireplace welcomes you into the second outdoor dining area amongst the native garden. This area is home to kangaroos and native birds. You might even spot an emu in the neighbouring paddocks if you're lucky! Wilde House is 15 minutes from the regional town of Ararat, 35 minutes from the heart of the Grampians, and 25 minutes from holiday destination Halls Gap. Take a drive to the local wineries in the area, try the local food in Pomonal and Great Western. And depending on when you visit, the house is just 13 minutes from Pitch Arts & Music Festival. Guest access You will have access to the entire space. Please keep the dam access in mind with children. Other things to note Wilde House is on tank water and in a rain shadow, so there is strictly no baths. Thank you for understanding. Firewood is provided for winter bookings only. We charge a small fee for pets, this is just due to additional cleaning needs. Please make sure your pets stay off the furniture and collect their waste before you go.
