Water sports enthusiasts are sure to find plenty of exciting activities here, and Antioch itself has the rustic charm of a small town while offering lots of dining, shopping, and family fun for all ages. Grab your gear and try your hand at fishing at Raven Glen Forest Preserve’s 33-acre Timber Lake, equipped with two fishing docks. If fishing isn’t your thing, enjoy the lake views and venture into the rolling hills and lush woods on 6.8 miles of trails for mountain biking, hiking, and even cross-country skiing. To experience the Chain O’ Lakes up close, rent a pontoon boat from Pelican Bay Marina and explore the stunning waters and coastline of Lake Marie, Bluff Lake, Fox Lake and beyond for a half or whole day. End the day by pulling up to Lupa’s Marina and taking in the views as you dine at the Sunset Grill on Bluff Lake. And if renting your own boat sounds like too much work, let the pros take you on a sunset cruise, birdwatching tour, or historical cruise. Chain O’ Lakes Boat Tours operates out of Antioch and offers a tour for every interest. We’d bet you don’t associate Illinois with fine wine, but surprise yourselves with a visit to the Vigneto del Bino Winery and taste some locally produced reds and whites among acres of sun-drenched vineyards. You may decide you need a bottle (or two) to bring back to your rental to accompany dinner. To satisfy the kids of all ages, plan to spend a day at nearby Six Flags Great America experiencing thrilling coasters, tame family rides for smaller family members, and live entertainment. Enjoy a variety of treats and snacks from a multitude of theme park dining options. No trip to Antioch would be complete without visiting the quaint downtown. The charming historic district is walkable and makes for a great afternoon of exploring its many shops, boutiques, and eateries. If you’re visiting in the summer, plan to attend one of the free outdoor concerts at the bandshell, with food and fun for the whole family. There are special holiday events in the winter as well, like a Christmas Parade and Dickens Holiday Village. Grab a memorable breakfast at the Vegas Café, serving unique comfort food since 1972. The Little Bean Coffee Company makes a perfect mid-day coffee stop with a cozy interior with vintage chairs and tables, and a great menu of specialty coffee drinks and sweets. For an unforgettable shopping experience, Great Lakes Antique Boutique is a treasure trove of the unique and unexpected. Discover one-of-a-kind wares from various vendors selling everything from fun vintage finds to handmade craft items. No smoking or vaping. No parties or events. No pets.
