Within Vanderkamp Forest sits our first fully renovated authentic log cabin. Originally built by hand from trees felled on the property, every inch of Wohlleben has been carefully restored to honor the original log cabin craft while adding touches of luxury. Experience the forest from a new perspective. While at VK you will share 850 acres of privately managed forest (with hiking trails and lots of amenities) with only a few other lodges. You won't want to leave this ultimate escape. The space Vanderkamp is a Wilderness Retreat set on 850 remote acres in Upstate New York. We are dedicated to cultivating unique, immersive, and supremely hospitable experiences that inspire people to discover the joy of connecting to the natural world. Wohlleben is 1 of only 5 lodges on the property. It's a studio layout cabin designed to help you leave the world behind and seclude within the forest around you. As you approach, you are greeted by a large, covered porch with 2 swinging chairs overlooking a pine grove, the perfect place to sip your morning coffee or a glass of wine as you listen to the sounds of the forest. Upon entry your gaze is immediately pulled through a large picture window at the rear of the cabin and deep into the VK north forest. The interior is warm, wrapped in dark leathers and dark woods, with light softly penetrating a few windows like the sun though the crown of a deep wood. The handmade and hand applied chinking between the old pine logs is a reminder of the slow, and laborious craft required to work with the natural variation of the trees. Custom millwork from various wood types and the hand-hewn hardwood floors were selected to celebrate the diversity of the forest. The cabin offers a spacious kitchen with all the cooking basics you’ll need and a built-in bar top that accommodates indoor dining for 2 (a table and chairs on the porch invites outdoor dining in pleasant weather). The cozy living room area faces the small, but mighty, wood stove adjacent to a Bluetooth speaker and internet enabled TV atop a custom wood storage shelf. Step onto black river stones as you enter a softly lit bathroom and melt your concerns in the instantly warm shower. The queen bed and leather reading chair occupy the prime cabin real estate. Perched in front of a huge picture window, you are invited to spend your time watching the forest and contemplating life’s big questions in absolute comfort. Outside the cabin is a year round soaking tub with woodland views so you can either let your muscles relax in steaming water or shock your system with a cold plunge. On the porch is a gas grill and off the porch is a fire pit with wood provided. ___About VK___ Available in the Fall is VK's newest amenity, White Pine Spa, offering a sauna, cold plunge, fitness room, salt room, and magnificent forest views from a Scandinavian inspired spa lounge. Visit Kempwick Commons on the property to stock up on our custom roast coffee, local food, or VK merch. Book a private in lodge chef for a special dinner or a private horseback ride through the woods. We offer 850 acres of pristine ecosystem as well as our 50-acre lake, and 9 miles of hiking trails. From canoeing, paddle boarding, and mountain biking to sledding and cross country skiing in the winter, we have a wide variety of experiences for all seasons. Relax on a dock, cook over a campfire, swim in the lake, or catch your first fish with a complimentary rod. We provide most of what you need to enjoy your time with us. Guest access Guests will have the entire cabin to themselves and will share the 850 acres of Vanderkamp and our 50 acre lake with guests staying at other lodges on the property.
