This isn’t a place for late nights or busy schedules. Exclusively for grown-ups, it suits couples who enjoy simple days, a good walk, somewhere interesting to visit, and time to properly switch off. Riley Wood is for those who want space, inside and out. Long views, quiet surroundings, and somewhere you can settle in without feeling overlooked. Mornings out in the hills, a stop for coffee and cake, then back to somewhere warm and comfortable. Evenings slow, quiet, (quiet hours after 9). The space Riley Wood Cottage is a lovingly restored one-bedroom retreat at Top Riley Holiday Cottages in Eyam. It has been thoughtfully designed to offer couples a peaceful and luxurious base from which to explore the Peak District. Surrounded by open countryside and ancient woodland, it’s a place where time slows down and nature takes centre stage. Upstairs, the spacious bedroom is a calm, elegant space, complete with a sumptuous king-size bed, a dressing table, and plenty of storage. From the window, uninterrupted views stretch out across the Peak District, a rolling landscape of moors, meadows, and dry-stone walls. It’s a view that greets you each morning and stays with you long after your stay. The generous bathroom offers a walk-in shower, toilet, and basin, with plenty of space to get ready for the day’s adventures or unwind afterwards in comfort. Downstairs, the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area is the heart of the cottage. With comfortable seating, a well-equipped kitchen, and space to linger over a homemade meal or a glass of wine, it’s perfect for relaxed evenings in. Every corner of this cottage has been thoughtfully restored to blend rustic charm with modern comfort, warm, welcoming, and quietly stylish. Riley Wood is one of several peaceful retreats here at Top Riley, alongside our secluded barn and woodland cabins, all set within private meadow and countryside. Unfortunately this property is not suitable for babies or children and therefore is adult only. Step outside and you’ll find a private patio area with a table and chairs, a perfect spot to enjoy the sunrise, listen to the birdsong, or simply soak up the stillness. The private hot tub adds a touch of magic, sink into warm, bubbling water after a walk through the fields or woods, and feel the tension melt away as owls call in the distance and the stars begin to appear. This hot tub is for the sole use of guests at Riley Wood and while it is not overlooked by the connected cottages the hot tub is closed from 10pm so the peace and quiet is felt by everyone. Wildlife is all around you here. Deer wander through the fields, hares dart across the lanes, and birds flit through the hedgerows. From your doorstep, you can walk straight into nature, through ancient woodland, across rolling farmland, and onto the many footpaths and trails that criss-cross this beautiful part of the world. Whether you're here to ramble, reconnect, write, or simply rest, Riley Wood Cottage is a place to breathe, unwind, and feel deeply at home in nature. Temporary summer barbecue restriction Due to the exceptionally dry weather and the increased risk of fire across the surrounding grassland, meadow and woodland, barbecues are not permitted at Top Riley this summer. We know that sitting outside is a lovely part of a summer stay, but protecting our peaceful countryside setting, wildlife and guests must come first. The barbecues have therefore been removed from all properties, and guests must not bring or use their own disposable or portable barbecue anywhere on site. Thank you for helping us take care of this very special place. Guest access Guests have Riley Wood cottage to themselves and the patio area and hot tub area completely private. There is a laundry facility on site where you are welcome to use the washing machine and tumble dryer. The gate on the patio area opens up to our fields that you are welcome to explore and enjoy. Unfortunately this property is not suitable for babies or children and therefore is adult only. Other things to note This is a truly special cottage for a peaceful adult only relaxing break away. It is in the heart of the Peak District, so when you have finished exploring you can still sit and enjoy what the Peak District has to offer from the cottage. This is a great romantic getaway, a place to recharge or time to spend with a loved one. My family house is opposite the cottage so if you need anything I am on hand to help. The cottage is in a rural location and is a good 10/15 minute walk to the village of Eyam with the pub and cafe's. An ideal location for those wanting to truly get away from it all and to rest and relax peacefully. Quiet hours are after 9.00pm where you can still enjoy the hot tub until 10pm and patio area but peacefully and respectfully of our other guests and my family who are in the house near to the cottages.
