This listing is designed for long-term rentals of 30+ days. Blackout blinds and curtains are perfect for night-shift workers. This light, bright, artistly remodeled suite has has brand new Marmoleum floors, a vintage full-size tub, a new full-sized couch and original art. The studio is located behind the host's home, with a keyless entrance and lots of privacy. A remote control operates the back gate to allow guests to come in and park in their safe, secure designated paved space. The space Guests have their own entrance to this lovingly restored 1938 home in one of Redding's most charming historical neighborhoods. The the open-concept studio was added on to the original home in the late 1940s. The bedroom part of the suite features a pull-down Murphy bed with a comfy new queen-sized orthopedic foam core mattress with wall-mounted available reading lamps revealed when the bed is done. At the foot of the folded out murphy bed the couch makes into a twin bed. Though 195 square feet in size, the space is efficient and has plenty of seating for guests' visitors. Although the suite is ideal for two adults, the additional available sleeping space on the couch is ideal for daytime naps or TV watching if the guest doesn't wish to unfold the murphy bed. The studio has a closet, a dresser, overhead closet storage, plenty of kitchen cupboards, a broom closet, and a padded storage bench, but also additional room in the garage for overflow of large items, like bikes and ice chests. A kayak is available for guests' use, including a life jacket. Your host, an accomplished cook and baker, designed the kitchen and dining area as if she lived there. There's a brand-new backsplash covered with Turkish tiles, and a fully stocked kitchen that includes a 2-burner induction cooktop, a convection/microwave, water kettle, toaster, pots, pans, bakeware, electric hand-mixer, many eating and cooking utensils and multiple coffee-making options: electric drip, French press, and pour-over. Upon arrival guests will receive a welcome basket that features the host's signature coffee cake. For many guests, one of the best parts about this studio is its original, roomy, deep, porcelain-covered cast-iron vintage bathtub. The bathroom has plenty of white fluffy towels. Outside the studio are many places to relax on the deck, or on the raised patio, or the swing on main house's front porch, and even a treehouse built with adults in mind. Guests have access to a gas barbecue and also a rock-wall planter filled with almost every herb. (Except tarragon, that doesn't survive in Redding's heat.) Depending upon the season, guests may pick lemons, oranges, figs and pomegranates. Guest access Guests have secure access to the complete privacy of their entire studio that includes a full bathroom, super-efficient completely stocked kitchen, and the living room space that easily transforms into a bedroom when the Murphy bed is pulled down from its hiding place. A stacking washer/dryer unit is shared by the host and another guest a few feet away in a detached garage. Studio guests will enjoy their own on-demand hot water heater with unlimited hot water. No charge for laundry facilities. No charge for wifi. No charge for utilities. Outside the studio the property has many places to relax, rest, read, or drink beverages. A tree house designed for adults is on the premises and includes chairs and a small table. A gas barbecue is also available for guests' use. Other things to note Guests have their own remote control to open and close the back gate for access to their own paved, secure parking place. This 1938 lovingly restored home is located in a walkable, charming, historic central Redding neighborhood located near downtown, a popular river trail system and the downtown post office. It's located about a mile away each from Shasta Regional Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center. Beautiful Whiskeytown Lake is just a 20-minute drive away, and features picnic areas, a beach and a snack bar (seasonal).
