Description
The Paddock House Stay is hosted by Russel Creek at M Bar W Ranch. This is a real working cattle and horse ranch located on Russel Creek, a wet weather creek. We are less than three miles from I-20 and an easy 16 mile drive to Strawn where the new Palo Pinto Mountains State Park is soon to be open. Horse stalls, arena use, and more are available if you would like to get away with your horses. Send a message for stall availability/pricing with your booking request. The space The Paddock House has three bedrooms, a bedroom with a king bed and own bathroom, a bedroom with a queen bed, and a bedroom with two twin beds. One bathroom has a shower and the other has a tub/shower combo. The kitchen has all the basics. There is a covered rock porch off the house with a patio table and gas grill. Guest access Guests are allowed to go fishing, catch and release, at Hodges Lake, a small lake on Russel Creek with a gazebo and bank access and at a small fishing pond centrally located between our rentals at Russel Creek. Hodges lake is home to bass, catfish, and perch. Fishing for perch is fun at the small pond with worms. Guests are allowed to go for a walk on the roads around the property and we just ask that you do not cross fences or go through closed gates. Our horses here are spoiled and love attention but we ask that you do not feed them as some are on specific diets. Some of our fences are hotwired to keep the horses from pushing out of their paddocks so please do not touch the white fences so you do not risk getting shocked. For safety reasons we ask that all children are accompanied by an adult. We ask that guests be aware that our walk to the gazebo and along the ponds and lake do not have handrails so you can fall if you are not careful. We do not allow swimming or wading as snakes, wildlife, and deep holes are in the bodies of water and can be dangerous. Other things to note All of our water comes from Russel Creek, pumped to the small pond and is treated by a licensed water company that maintenance the filters once a month. As a caution we do recommend drinking bottled water and we leave you plenty to get started.
