Eclectic Monte Laginha @ Alentejo (Surf & Beach)

Our home is an agricultural cottage renovated into an open plan loft with 3 bedrooms (2 in mezzanine open style/no privacy/no tall people) located in the traditional Alentejo hills and 30min drive from beaches and surf schools of the Vicentina Coast. The village of Cercal is 10 min drive away. We both grew up in the area since babies and therefore we love coming here throughout the year. Having this 'monte' is a refuge for us which we enjoy to connect with nature and the sea. The space HOUSE DESCRIPTION Flat open floor plan, we have 3 bedrooms, 1 toilet and 1 full bathroom, one living room, one library/office space, kitchen and dining room together. Two of the bedrooms are in mezzanine style which mean they are open to the house and there's no privacy. Only 1 bedroom is fully private. DOG PETS RULES: if you bring your dog please let us know so we can leave extra linen to protect the furniture. No Cats. We're allergic. - Please don't let dogs climb into sofas or beds or sleep in them. Dogs sleep on the floor / in their own dog beds. - Please don't let your dog go into the swimming pool. - Please clean after your dog especially in the circulation areas of the house: sidewalk, dining area, entrance of the property, etc. Please treat our house as if it was yours. PLUNGE POOL Our monte has also some gems we believe make your stay richer: a refreshing traditional 'tanque' or plunge pool (4x3mts) respecting the traditional Alentejo design, with a sun lounger deck (and a 3rd toilet outdoor); a social fire pit in an outdoor relaxing area to roast chestnuts or marshmallows in the off season and an outdoor dining table, with a barbecue in the back near the kitchen. Guest access You’ll have access to the full property and entire facilities. We want you to enjoy the full ‘monte alentejano’ experience. Other things to note INTERNET STARLINK - Super Fast and good signal. HEAT & COLD: - In the summer the house is very fresh. - We don't have air conditioning but we have 3 cold fans that refresh very well. - In the winter we have heaters all over the house and a fireplace to get you warm plus the fire pit outside. DOG PETS: We are DOG PET friendly, but please let us know if you're bringing your pet with you, as we can leave extra linen to protect the furniture. If you bring your pet, please vacuum frequently so the house is kept as clean as possible. We have a vertical vacuum. NO CATS: we are allergic. BUG DISCLAIMER - Please note - this is a countryside house so there are bugs in nature. If you're a 'bugophobic' the countryside is not for you. GARBAGE - please dispose of your own garbage during your stay. The municipal bins are on the dirt road in direction to Cercal. COMPLEMENTARY CLEANING FOR LONG STAYS - we're happy to offer complementary cleaning if you're staying longer than 1 week (kitchen, wc's, change of linen, emptying bins). ACTIVITIES AT MONTE OR SURROUNDINGS: - sunbathe in our traditional Alentejano ‘tank’; - drive to the wild beaches nearby (15-20min drive) in the beautiful Alentejo hills and landscape; - learn to surf (various surf schools around) or if you're a pro great waves around here (Pico Loco, Porto das Barcas, Aivados; if you'd like to travel a bit south on a day trip, Arrifana is the spot) - climb our hill and enjoy a glass of wine watching the view; - roast in our fire pit - marshmallows or chestnuts or chorizo; - grill your own food in the grill, like fish or meat; - run or cycle in the nearby Farmhouse hills; - ride a horse at 'Galope no Campo' which is about 500mts away from our property; - visit local fairs: Feira da Felicidade where the local community sells bio produce, food and antiques or thrift goods; visit Brunheiras a big local market with grilled chicken, local handcrafts, ceramics, plants and local produce (olive oil, traditional cheeses, bread, fruit, etc) (my favourite!) ORIGINAL ARCHITECTURE FEATURES of ALENTEJO: You'll notice original features in the house, such as the 'adobo' walls (a kind of clay), the original tiles of the kitchen are now reused in the toilets and the firewood oven in the kitchen is also original from the farming house.
