Description
Come home for a rest in our oceanfront Newfoundland homestead located a stones throw from the harbours edge. The UNESCO Historical Viking Site and the Viking Norstead Port of Trade are just minutes away in Lanse Aux Meadows. Enjoy local food and maybe take a boat tour to view icebergs and whales if they are in the area. We welcome every person from every place to come make memories at our house. Unwind and enjoy a still summer morning as the sun rises and lights up the face of White Cape. The space This is a traditional Newfoundland home that was built in 1948 from board that was sawn by the builder, my father. This ocean view house is old and has character. The ceilings are low(78 1/2”, beams 72”), the floor creaks, and the doors don’t fit perfectly, but the atmosphere is cozy and comforting. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is a propane barbecue grill on the back deck. The two bedrooms have queen beds and are bright and roomy for an old house of this style. Not every day is a beautiful day in NL, but you can warm up with a quilt and read a good Newfoundland book from the bookcase if the weather doesn’t permit exploring the beautiful rugged coast. You can light a fire near the water, tip your head back and see the Milky Way as you have never seen it before. The grass is long and the flowers are wild. Please contact us for info on out of season stays. Guest access You have access to the entire house and are welcome to explore the property. The fishing stage and wharf are not accessible and are off limits. There is no access to the old twine store (shed) located on the property. Other things to note -Please inbox us if you are interested in booking during the off season between October and May. The dates might be marked as unavailable but might not actually be booked. -The municipality sometimes issues a boil order on the municipal water supply and we will inform you if a boil order is in effect. We will supply you with drinking water. -Many restaurants and tourist attractions are seasonal. It is best to check opening and closing dates of these businesses. Ice bergs and whales are common but are not always in the area. Registration Details 4970
