Description

Sleep inside 185 years of history. This one-room schoolhouse was built in 1840, and has been completely renovated into a private retreat for two — original timbers and antique sliding doors preserved, modernized around a king bed, propane fireplace, private hot tub on the covered deck, and an oversized rain-shower for two. An hour from Saratoga, easy reach to Cobleskill, Howe Caverns, and the southern Adirondacks. Built for couples who want somewhere that doesn't feel like everywhere else. The space The Space The schoolhouse is ~800 square feet of fully private space for two — bedroom, bathroom, living area, kitchen, and a covered back deck with a private hot tub. Antique sliding barn doors (salvaged from another 19th-century schoolhouse) separate the bedroom and bathroom. They're original, they're beautiful, and they don't seal like modern doors — for two people, it's part of the story. Bedroom; King bed with Nectar Premier mattress, robes in the closet 55" Roku Smart TV (guest mode — log into your streaming, auto-logs out at checkout) USB and USB-C charging on both sides of the bed Dresser, full-length mirror, iron & ironing board Bathroom; Oversized walk-in shower with dual showerheads Premium towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash Hair dryer, essential toiletries Living Area; Loveseat, two accent chairs, custom coffee table Second 55" Roku Smart TV, propane fireplace Dedicated desk and chair if you need to get a little work done Kitchen; Full-size fridge, range, microwave, coffee maker Spices, oils, dishes, pots, pans, utensils Dining for four Covered Back Deck; Private hot tub (drained, cleaned, and refilled between every stay) Seating for two and a small table Wooded views The Location — Read This Before You Book; This is intentionally rural. Restaurants and grocery stores are a 10–15 minute drive. There's no walkable downtown, no foot traffic. If you want to walk to dinner, this isn't the right property. What is within easy reach; Saratoga Springs — ~1 hour (racing, dining, spas, SPAC) Cobleskill & Howe Caverns — ~30 minutes Southern Adirondacks / Sacandaga Lake — ~45 minutes Cooperstown — ~1 hour Amsterdam — ~15 minutes Schenectady, Albany — all drivable A car is required. Free on-site parking for two vehicles. Good to Know; Self check-in via smart lock Fast Wi-Fi (600+ Mbps) CASPR continuous air and surface sterilization system runs 24/7 Entire property is yours — no shared space, no on-site host Exterior security camera facing parking (none inside) Responsive host via Airbnb message or phone if anything comes up Max 2 guests — this is a couples retreat, not a group space Built for anniversaries, honeymoons, and couples who want somewhere that doesn't feel like everywhere else. Guest access Entire space is included in this rental. Please, make yourself at home. Other things to note The doors separating the bedroom from the main area, and the bedroom from the bathroom are antique doors from another school. Please note: they are sliding barn style doors, be aware that they do not seal like a normal door and it leaves a gap on the sides/between the doors for both the bedroom and bathroom when closed.
