This two-story house has a backyard on the Mendenhall River tidal wetlands, a river originating at the Mendenhall Glacier. Ideal for birdwatching - bald eagles, kingfishers, ducks, ravens & crows are commonly seen. Bedrooms have beautiful private views toward the river. It is close to multiple shopping, dining, & grocery options. The main bathroom has sauna, double shower, & clawfoot tub. There are several great trails within walking distance: Brotherhood Trail and Wetlands EVAR Dike Trail. The house stands on pilings above tidal wetlands and behind snow capped mountains and has beautiful views of the Mendenhall River that borders the backyard. Amazing wildlife can be seen daily here including bald eagles, ravens, seals, ducks, and salmon… all sustaining from the river. I live on the property in an expansion wing attached to the original home. The expansion was originally constructed for service of a Bed and Breakfast that existed here many years ago! Walls are well soundproofed between the units. Free parking is available for multiple vehicles. I’m often present on the property in the expansion wing, and if I’m available I’m happy to answer questions, give advice, or tend to issues with the house or supplies. Texting is the best way to get ahold of me. Located in one of the best neighborhoods in Juneau, the location is both peaceful and extremely convenient. It is an easy half mile walk up Brotherhood Trail to Safeway and many other great nearby restaurants and shops. This trail is one of Juneau’s most beautiful hiking trails and leads up the river towards the Mendenhall glacier. There is a large turf field a block from the house where people play. Additionally, another of Juneau’s most popular trails, Mendenhall Wetlands Dike trail is located a half mile away and provides access to the expansive wetlands located near the airport. The house is located 30 minutes from Eaglecrest Ski Area, as well as about 10 minutes from great cross country skiing options. Kayaks can be launched from the backyard into the Mendenhall River which accesses the nearby tidal wetlands, a place where salmon are plentiful during the late summer/early fall fishing months. Most cars drive slow in our neighborhood and wave! It’s a great place for kids to play in the front or back because we have a great set of neighbors as well! Very safe neighborhood!
