Other things to note ACTIVITIES TO DO IN THE AREA The Canavese area, with its particular geomorphological characteristics, allows you to practice countless sports and cultural activities related to the mountains and more! Some examples: DOWNHILL SKIING, CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING, ROCK CLIMBING, PARAGLIDING, HORSE RIDING, GOLF, SPORT FISHING, CANOEING, SAILING, WATER SKIING, AND MOUNTAIN BIKING The Canavese castle circuit consists of a set of ancient manors and castles that bear witness to an ancient past often marked by popular uprisings and civil wars. The best known are the Castle of Ivrea, the Castle of Agliè and the Castle of Masino and there are numerous Castles to visit in the nearby Aosta Valley MUSEUMS Small but numerous, the museums of the Canavese are characterized by the breadth of the themes covered: contemporary art, archaeology, ethnography, industry and nature. LANDSCAPES The Morainic Amphitheater, one of the most important glacial complexes in the Alps, both for its extension and for its extraordinary level of conservation, presents unmissable views in all seasons of the year. Gran Paradiso National Park: an authentic and extraordinary uniqueness for the Canavese region, this protected area known throughout Europe as a naturalistic oasis of excellence, allows tourists to go on excursions in special and exciting contexts: snowshoeing, walking, mountain biking or climbing among protected flora and fauna, recreational activities and various initiatives, stargazing, outdoor games, conferences and much more... EVENTS The Historical Carnival of Ivrea is a unique event recognized as an Italian event of international importance. The spirit of the Historical Carnival lives in the re-enactment of an episode of liberation from tyranny, which dates back to the Middle Ages: a baron who starved the city was driven out thanks to the rebellion of the daughter of a miller who did not want to submit to the jus primae noctis and who ignited the popular revolt. Spectacular and unique is the battle of the oranges between the historical Eporedian teams that literally besiege the city for 3 days. Castellamonte Ceramics Exhibition: Castellamonte's ancient ceramic tradition was born 6000 years ago. The presence on the hills of Castellamonte of an easily extractable clay has given rise, over the centuries, to an art and a technique in the processing and transformation of ceramics that are unique in the world. Every year, the Exhibition includes exhibitions of traditional local handicrafts, exhibitions and dedicated conferences. FOOD AND WINE The Wine Roads in Canavese cover a large part of the territory and can be traveled by car, but also by bicycle or motorcycle. Autumn is the grape harvest period, so it is one of the most evocative times to spend a few days in these places. However, winter also offers exciting landscapes and the possibility of stops at wineries and restaurants; Canavese gastronomy has its roots in the customs of agriculture and breeding, with strong links to peasant traditions. The productions of the Erbaluce wineries of Caluso and Carema are renowned. Particular attention should also be paid to the local gastronomy, in the Canavese area, with its typical dishes based on mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts and cheeses, without forgetting a great variety of desserts including the traditional and renowned "Torta 900" typical of Ivrea and the "Torcetti Canavesani" historical glazed biscuits. Typical of the Piedmontese territory is the sinoira snack, an afternoon meal that, due to its abundance, tends to replace dinner (for this "sinoira"). Registration Details IT001001C2Z5WTL6OL
