Description
Welcome to Hemlock Hill Hideaway - a unique glamping experience while being minutes from Boone city limits!! A perfect place to connect with nature without having to do all of the work camping or being surrounded by other campers! Please check out the pictures and click on each of them for the captions. The space ***ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!! Unfortunately, people are not looking at the pictures carefully or are reading the listing or their messages. This is a glamping/camping experience in the mountains! It does and will get VERY cold (and sometimes very windy - which leads to draft inside the treehouse). You WILL NEED to bring your cold weather gear. We have had EXPERIENCED campers say "uh no...too cold," and we have had others say, "this was absolutely amazing!!" (which is the only reason why we don't shut it down for the winter). If you decide to stay here, please come prepared! But please do not leave a negative review if you are not prepared. This is also the reason why we have a 24 hour cancelation policy - so you can keep an eye on the weather and change your mind if needed. *** The treehouse is approximately 10'x10'. There is a loft consisting of a full-size mattress while facing a clear semi-see-through roof. A futon with a full-size memory foam mattress sits below it. There is electricity and WiFi. There is also a cooler and an electric kettle available for you to use. Outside of the treehouse, there is a fire pit, a grill, a hammock, and a slide - plenty to do while relaxing in nature! During the summer and fall months, the bathroom consists of a portable toilet and sink in a tent off the treehouse. A shower station sits on the other side of the treehouse. Although there is no plumbing, both have water. You would only need to bring drinking water for yourselves. DURING THE WINTER MONTHS (usually NOVEMBER 1 TO APRIL/MAY), there is a non-water portable toilet in a tent off the treehouse but NO sink or shower amenities. (Please see the picture provided.) We do not have the means to keep water from freezing when temperatures fall below freezing and do not want to risk damaging our bathroom items. You will need to bring water for cleaning and drinking. *WE WILL BE SWITCHING TO THE WINTER TOILET AROUND NOVEMBER 10-15 THIS YEAR!* As this is a glamping experience, please bring blankets/sleeping bags and pillows to sleep. (Both the foam mattress & futon will have freshly laundered sheets.) Winter nights can get cold so you will want to bring cold weather sleeping bags. A space heater is provided, but you will still need to make sure to bring plenty of blankets to keep warm. Sometimes even the summer nights can get a bit chilly. If you plan to use the grill, please bring your own charcoal. Grilling utensils are provided. Firewood is provided for the fire pit. We usually leave about seven (7) pieces of firewood per night. If you want to burn more than a few hours a night, you may want to pick up a bundle. Although smoking is allowed on the premises, we ask that you do not smoke inside the treehouse. If you decide to smoke, please clean up after yourselves. Checking out is easy! We ask that you throw away your trash & recycles and return the key to the lockbox. We will take care of the rest! There is no need to refill the water reservoirs, clean the toilet, or take the sheets off of the mattresses. Guest access Please park in the designated parking area as shown in the picture. We are located at the end of a quiet street - although we are minutes away from US-421 and all of the amenities the High Country has to offer! 1 mile - Pine Run Paddle Access for kayaking, canoeing, and tubing 2 miles - Food Lion ~4 miles - Blue Ridge Parkway entrance (we are close to two BR Parkway entrances) 4 miles - Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park 4 miles - Brookshire Park 4 miles - Booneshine Brewery Company 7 miles - Starbucks Other things to note The hideaway is behind our backyard so you may see/hear us from time to time. There may be a cat or a dog running around although we find that they do not go to the treehouse area without us. We do have a puppy that we're training to stay close to us and thus, we chain him up when we have guests (which is why we would appreciate the courtesy of letting us know when you've checked out - so we can let him roam). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know. Thank you!
