Spacious, newly renovated log cabin with soul. Here you will find peace with simple standard, yet a high degree of comfort with beautiful interiors, well-equipped kitchen and great beds. Bakkestøl is an old farmstead from the 19th century. The old mountain pasture was built in 1938. The newest part is the part that is rented out; a two-storey cabin with hallway, wardrobe, kitchen, living room, fireplace, living room with sofa corner, bedroom and bathroom. Large terrace with great views of the rampart and valley. Swimming holes in the stream just below the plot. The space The cabin has an open, cozy newly renovated kitchen with good counter space, new appliances and kitchen table. Dining room in the main room with dining table close to the large, white fireplace located in the middle of the cabin. Seats around the fireplace. On the opposite side of the main room there is a cozy sofa corner with coffee table. Brand new corner sofa facing the fireplace. Otherwise, the cabin has old, soulful quality furniture of cultural-historical importance. On the second floor there are two bedrooms with a door in between. The master bedroom is spacious and faces south. It is furnished with two single beds, bedside tables, chairs and a chest of drawers. Bedroom no. 2 faces north and has three single beds, chairs and a dresser. Both bedrooms have windows that can be opened and curtains. Hallway with wardrobe between the front door and the door to the terrace. In the hallway you will find the bathroom with a chemical toilet, sink, mirror and shower system (not installed). There is a large barn on the plot, about 50 meters from the cabin, with an outhouse. Drinking water in the outdoor water tap on the cabin wall, electric heating and large open fireplace indoors. The cabin is warm and good, with a bright and open location and road all the way up to the door all year round. Guest access The cabin is composed of two cabins. The newest part is from 1938 and available for rent with all rooms available for guests, as described above. The old part is closed off and under renovation. The entire fenced part of the plot (9 acres) is available for guests. Beautiful flower meadow in summer and lovely, open embankment all year round. Shed for livestock at the bottom of the embankment. Large, old barn on the plot is available for guests in the form of an outhouse. In the middle of the barn, an outhouse has been built over the old manure cellar. Here you can sit in peace and quiet among old booths for pets, when there were livestock on the site. Just below the plot the river flows. Other things to note During the summer holidays, there are ponies on summer pasture right outside the cabin. An electric fence is set up so that the horses do not come all the way up to the house wall. The horses are looked after by people who come and fill up their water troughs that are on the plot. The cabin has belonged to the same family since 1938. The new part, which is the one rented out, was built as a potential refuge for a businessman and his family from Oslo, during World War II. He equipped the cabin with water, heating and livestock in the barn in case they had to flee the capital. He hired a young man to take care of the animals. His name was Severin and he lived in a room in the barn, above the barn. Some believe that Severin's spirit still lingers in Bakkestøl. What we know is that Severin came from the Swedish border and carried with him a great love sorrow. He had stopped talking to people and kept mostly to himself. He was a good man who took good care of the animals.
