Authentic Maltese Home of Character near Valletta

Our lovely tiny Maltese townhouse was built in the local limestone over 300 years ago, forming part of one of the oldest streets of Floriana. It has been newly refurbished with respect to its original character yet offering modern comforts. The house boasts original features such as a spiral staircase, wooden beams, arches and a well. The space This lovely house of character no.17 is accessed through the quiet Trejqet l-Imhazen, located close to the southern fortifications of Floriana, a minute walk to Sir Luigi Preziosi Gardens boasting wide 180 degree view of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities. Upon entering the home, one finds themselves in an entry way equipped with coat hangers and a full-sized mirror. The bright white kitchen attracts the guest into living quarters. The kitchen is installed with a refrigerator, a washing machine, a stove, an oven, a hot water kettle and a coffee maker. The space is vertically dissected by a mezzanine level housing the sleeping quarters equipped with a double-bed, accessed through a small staircase located on the right hand-side of the entrance. Beneath the mezzanine one finds a cosy living room equipped with a sofa bed and a coffee table looking upon a TV with standard cable. A traditional stone spiral staircase the garigor located right next to the kitchen, leading you downstairs into the basement level where one find the bathroom that was completely renovated along with the rest of the house, retaining the natural limestone walls and old slab flooring. Hot water and a hair dryer are provided, whilst shampoo, body soap, toilet paper and towels are provided, next to the sink carved into a natural limestone block. This property is quite small in size although has been renovated with lots of care and love as can be noted on the photos. The property does not have a window on the street although has a main door with a lodge. When inside it is nice to leave the door open as a traditional Mediterranean country. Property is at ground floor and basement level and finished on masonry professional restored. Being an old building it tends to be bit humid. This property is ideal for people to appreciate the character of the original Maltese stone and construction. Because of the old spiral staircase and the other small staircase to the bedloft we do not recommend this for parents with very young children. Ideal for younger middle age couples due to stairs being an old building. Other things to note Floriana is a gorgeous neighborhood in Malta that makes exploring Valletta and the rest of the islands easy and convenient. It is home to many delicious local restaurants and cafes with gardens and the waterfront all a short walk away. The little house is located only 10-15 min taxi drive from the airport or roughly 20-30 min with the bus depending on the traffic. It is 10 min walk from the central busstation in Valletta. However all busses that leave to and from Valletta have to drive through Floriana’s main street (St. Anne’s street) so you can catch a bus from Floriana to any location in Malta. There is also a convenient ferry service, a 10-15 min walk away to the beautiful cities of Birgu, Senglea, Cospicua and Kalkara or the island of Gozo. The bathroom may accumulate damp, we advice not to store clothes or any other items in the bathroom when it is not being used. A fan, a heater and a dehumidifier helps to keep the humidity levels down. If you are staying for a longer period of time we recommend keeping the dehumdifier after showering. The accommodation is not pet-friendly. Property is at ground floor and basement level and finished on masonry professional restored. Being an old building it tends to be bit humid.
