The convenient location of our renovated Colonial house across from Instituto Allende makes it the ideal base for groups to explore San Miguel. Four suites, each with bathroom, will accommodate up to 10 people. Large stocked kitchen, dining room and enormous living room area. PLEASE NOTE: although our upstairs apartment is separate it shares the entry and access is from the second floor landing of the house. When not being used by ourselves or our manager it can be rented or may have renters. Each of the four suites has a private bath. The common areas are uncommonly beautiful--the courtyard with its tile fountain, the comfortable covered open- air sitting area with Moroccan white cotton drapery, should you want to enclose it for privacy. Dining tables are in the courtyard as well as on the garden patio on the second floor, and the terrace outside the Blue Suite. The very large and fully-stocked kitchen has deep farmhouse copper sinks, a portable copper/wood kitchen island, and is adjacent to the informal dining room with its charming hand-stencilled table. The kitchen is well- applianced for a serious chef. You can find a juicer, blender, ice cream maker, waffle iron, popcorn popper, madeleine (for julienne) and 3 types of coffee machines. We have a Weber charcoal briquette barbecue kettle. The house is festively decked out with a plethora of potted plants and flowering/fruiting trees, all well-attended by our gardener and handyman, Hugo. He comes 3-4 times week so you don't have to water! We have kumquats, oranges, lemons, olive trees, bougainvillea, gardenias, aloes, cacti, ficus and many other native plants. The Sala (living room) is L-shaped with high ceiling and skylights, an upright Yamaha piano, two fireplaces, and a Blue Birdcage bed designed by famous artist Toller Cranston. The bed is great for catnaps or an extra guest. There is a music system with CDs as well as Sonos speakers throughout the house, a comfortable couch, chairs, and a chaise lounge. The library is substantial--hundreds of books--- and includes shelves of art books, Mexican guides, fiction and non-fiction. readers will be delighted with In the part of the room next to the informal dining room is a Mesquite marquetry formal dining table that seats 8, and is great for spreading out art projects. Each suite has a flat-screen TV with full Shaw satellite programming. We are among the few people in San Miguel to offer high speed fibre-optic internet. One of the best things about our house is our staff, who have all been with us over 10 years. Our housekeeper Lupe keeps an immaculate house, and is responsive to guest needs. Benjamin, our manager, speaks perfect English and is the person to contact if you need anything. Hugo is our gardener and Man Friday, should you need assistance with changing your garaphon (water bottles) or anything that needs attention. We are known and envied for having the most convenient location in San Miguel. Taxis are instantly available out the front door. There are dozens of popular restaurants in all price categories both up and down our street. We will provide guests with a complete list as well as reviews, as well as a list of restaurants that deliver. Directly across the street is Los Rehilletes, the best cheese/ specialty gourmet shop in town. Half a block down the street is Farmacia Guadalajara, our 24 hour pharmacy/convenience store. A block up is Mercado Sano, a European style marketplace, which features a great farmer's market on Saturdays, a wine-tasting bar upstairs with microbrews upstairs, several coffee bars, a Soup Lady, a Belgian baker, organic produce, La Sabina gourmet shop, and two juice bars. Both our main park, Parque Juarez, and two neighborhood parks are within a 5 minute walk. There are two hotels on our street with inexpensive pay-per-use swimming pools, as well as the luxurious Rosewood Hotel pool and spa, for day use. Many of our guests enrolled in the Spanish classes offered by the Instituto across the street. Last but not least is our art and handicraft collection, including Asian and Indonesian textiles, lithographs by renowned Mexican artists, Toller Cranston's last painting, and classic antique Mexican ceramics from all regions of Mexico, collected by my mother in the 1960's. everything except our apartment on third floor unless rented separately. as much or as little as guest wants. Convenience, liveliness, steps to a variety of wonderful restaurants and street food, organic market closeby as well as monthly artisan fairs, watching Sunday night fireworks from the terraces, hearing fine musicians in any number of nearby bars and restaurants, the gaiety of wedding parties at the Insituto. THE best place to hail a taxi is in front of our house. If I had to wait more than 2 minutes, I can't remember when! Buses also run up and down the street to the various markets and main squares of San Miguel, and outlying districts. The main house is available ONLY if the suites are not booked individually. If you want to economize and don't mind the possibility of other guests in a suite, please inquire We may have 2 or 3 of the suites available. PLEASE NOTE: that the apartment on the top floor is rented separately although it shares the entrance and access to it is from the second flour landing through the courtyard. If we or our manager are not using it and no one has booked the apartment it may be booked separately. PETS: Dogs are welcome if they are housebroken and well-trained, for a fee of $20/day per pet. Please let us know upon booking if you are bringing your dog, and we will surcharge you through AirBnB.
