La Boite - South Stradbroke Island

Nestled amoungst a handful of houses at Currigee on South Stradbroke Island, La Boite is a beach house for all occasions. The owners built this house in 1998 and it is a treasured family holiday home. Off the grid completely - powered by the sun, with gas hot water and cooking facilities and rainwater straight from the sky this will be a holiday to remember. Whether with family and friends or for that special occasion La Boite will not disappoint The space The main house has 3 bedrooms - a master with queen bed and a deck, second with queen bed and a private deck, and the third family room which has a queen bed together with a set of bunk beds. Attached to the house by a timber walkway are “the Dongers” where two further bedrooms are housed one with a queen, the other with two sets of bunks ie 4 singles The main house has an internal full bathroom with a claw foot bath, but to be honest the shower we use mainly is located on the western deck. Privately enclosed and cladded internally with mini orb it makes you feel like you are showering outside but in complete privacy There is ample dining opportunities with an internal dining table that seats 10 and an outdoor table of similar size on the Eastern deck. On the western deck there are some more spots to enjoy with a high table and chairs with glimpses of the Broadwater. The house has a wide range of board games and jigsaw puzzles as alternatives to electronic devices and there is even a giant chess board off the deck. But for those who can’t disconnect as easily - the TV is a smart TV although you will need to bring your wifi modem with you as there is no broadband connection to the house / island. It is a beach house so the Weber gas BBQ gets a great workout - and don’t worry there will be a spare gas bottle. Inside there is a large gas oven and gas hot plate, two dishwashers, a wine fridge, free standing fridge and a deep freeze. Please remember that the house is powered by solar, so be conscious of your consumption, and there is a meter in the kitchen which is a simple green, amber, red gauge. Significant power is used by heating implements (so no hairdryers please), the water pump (showers and toilet) and believe it or not fans. So when you don’t need lights or fans, please turn them off, it will make your holiday better! Guest access You will have full access to the house with the exception of the storage under the upstairs nap lounge Other things to note We recommend using Steve’s Water Taxi to access the island if you do not have a private boat. The water taxi departs from Runaway Bay marina which has off street parking for the public. The water taxi can drop you off at our mooring and the house is 150m up a track from the Broadwater
