Located in the Fort Wm. H. Seward historic district, your hosts, Joanne and Phyllis, invite you to share their home which is centrally located only 4 blocks from downtown and two blocks from the waterfront. The rooms and living area have been renovated with modern conveniences but still keep the flavor of the original architecture. Discounts on select Haines tours exclusively for our guests! Guests have shared use of the common areas of the home. The expansive living room with views of Lynn Canal and the mountains beyond is where you can play board games, enjoy the log fire, or just visit with friends, old and new. The kitchen is shared with other guests and the owners. The glassed-in front porch makes a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee, basking in the warm sun-filled room overlooking the main military square with historical buildings. The sunny back deck is where you can enjoy an evening cocktail with fantastic views of the town, mountains, and water, or use the Weber grill to cook up your daily catch of salmon or halibut. Room #1 has a bath across the hall that is not shared with the other guests. All rooms have wi fi, mini-fridge, and flat screen TV with satellite programming Coin-op washer/dryer on premises Free shuttle to the Alaska Marine Highway dock No smoking No Pets (A small dog lives on the premises but is not allowed in the guest rooms) Guests share the house with the hosts and other guests. Your hosts, Joanne and Phyllis, live in the house and are available as needed The Alaska Guardhouse is located in Fort William H. Seward, a registered historical landmark in Haines, Alaska. Completed in 1904, Fort Seward was the first permanent army post in Alaska. When the fort was in operation the Guardhouse served as the jail with 4 cells and offices for the military police. Walking distance to town, a car is suggested for seeing the sights. There is a small dog living in the house plus 3 other guest rooms.
