Description
Our lovingly and sympathetically restored cottage is perfect for families and/or friends. Once a barn, then a bank, now a cosy home, it sits close to the Lake District in the new Yorkshire Dales National Park on the coast to coast route. Orton is a friendly village with a shop, primary school, a welcoming pub, a famous chocolate factory and a tea room. There is a local market once a month in the village square. It is in a beautiful unspoilt quiet valley, ideal for walking, biking or exploring. The space This is the perfect choice for a family get-together holiday. It is a bright blue surprise of a tardis, full of space and sources of light. With direct level key-coded access off the street, it sits in the very centre of the village. Inside, the house is fully restored, newly furnished, with solid oak flooring in the entry hall/dining room and up into the large fully-equipped modern kitchen. There is a separate utility room for washing clothes with a drying rack and a deep sink for scrubbing boots. A french patio door leads out into a sunny patio area and up into a private enclosed garden with a lawn, flowering borders and garden seating. The lounge has very comfortable furniture, carpeted and curtained for privacy, a new wood-burning stove and first basket of logs, large screen smart tv, excellent wifi and paintings galore. There is an insane amount of insulation for warmth built in throughout. Stairs lead straight up onto a central open skylit landing and a bright gallery with more art work, four cosy bedrooms - one queen-sized, one single and a double - all thickly carpeted and tastefully decorated, 2 bathrooms, one shower and one bath. Further stairs lead up to a well lit attic room with another double bed! Guest access You have the whole house at your disposal. Other things to note Buses go to Penrith or Kendal from the bus stop just in the market square, if you want to explore further afield. Recommendations for walks and/or restaurants are in the house folder. The village is just 10 minutes off the M6 junctions at Tebay or Shap, so there is direct and easy access for guests. *** If you'd prefer something slightly smaller in a town, we also have a very popular beautiful old cottage in the centre of Penrith that sleeps 4 people.
