Just a bit further down the road is Fort Macon State Park. 10 minutes to the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores - a great way to spend a rainy day! 15 minutes to Salter Path, and 15 minutes to Beaufort. Out of Beaufort, you can hop on the ferry that will take you over to Shackleford Banks to see the wild horses, or Cape Lookout to have a picnic and go shelling. 10 minutes to the Morehead City waterfront, home of the Big Rock! 20 minutes to the other end of the island - Emerald Isle - if you want the full Crystal Coast experience.
