Kick back and relax in this quiet retreat! After a day of kiting, biking, hiking, fishing, skiing, shopping and wine tasting you'll be ready to relax, grill some dinner, and hang by the fire pit. My house is cozy and stylish and the perfect place to chill while enjoying your gorge vacation. Bonus: you can see the Lyle sandbar from the yard and walk to it when you're ready to get on the water! Just 15 minutes to White Salmon and Hood River, and 20 minutes to The Dalles. My house is one level and 1000 sq ft. It was built in 1921 and carries all the charm you'd expect. It is one of the original houses built in Lyle! The kitchen and bath were remodeled at some point before the house was mine. There was an old goat barn on the property and repurposed wood from this barn was used to create the open shelving in the kitchen and other areas of the house. The walk in shower floor is made of rocks from the nearby Klickitat River. The house has original fir floors that add character and feel buttery soft under your feet but also show some wear and tear in areas from the past 100 years! The master bedroom has a queen bed, closet and small dresser. The second bedroom is small and has a twin pull out bed that will be set up as a bed for you. The third bedroom is set up as an office with a small desk. The couch in the living room makes a great extra bed, it's very comfy!! Just set the back cushions off to the side for a nice wide cozy place to sleep. Extra linens provided! There are several outdoor areas to enjoy. Morning coffee on the front porch swing while looking at the beautiful gorge hillsides is my favorite spot. There is a small table with chairs on the side deck as well as some lawn chairs in the back yard (in the warmer months). The yard is landscaped beautifully and this really stands out in spring and summer. Butterflies and hummingbirds everywhere! There are several flat parking areas, and so while the house only sleeps a few, there is van parking in my driveway or on the north side of the house in the upper lot. Just open the gate and pull in. Six people max per stay please. There is also an outlet on the front porch to run an extension cord for shore power. Extension cord not provided. My garage will be locked and not available to guests. While this is my main home, I am not in Lyle when it is being used for Airbnb. I will be nearby in The Gorge however and available any time for questions or concerns. Lyle is a small community in Washington just 15 minutes east of White Salmon WA and Hood River OR in the Columbia River Gorge. My house is in town, close to everything. Lyle is a quiet little town, with one store, one gas station, two restaurants, and one seasonal nursery/gift shop/ice cream shop open in the warmer months. Currently there is construction going on for a cafe/tasting room overlooking the Lyle sandbar, above the kite school. Lyle is a great launch pad for all Gorge adventures. There are several wineries within a 5-10 minute drive. Amazing hiking and biking also within 10 minutes. The famous Doug's Beach for windsurfing is a 5 minute drive as well. You can walk down the street a couple blocks to get on the Klickitat River Trail or to the Lyle sandbar for kiting when the wind is on or swimming and beach hanging when it's calm. Check out the rope swing under the Klickitat River Bridge on your way down to the sandbar! There are also some tucked away trails and swimming holes along the Klickitat River that take some exploring to find if you want that kind of adventure! You can walk to everything in Lyle, including the Lyle sandbar for kiting and the Klickitat River Trail for scenic walks/runs/bike rides. You will need a car to get to the other communities in The Gorge. The apartment above the garage is rented and has a tenant living in it currently. The renter has the driveway and small yard area surrounding garage but will not be entering main house area or the fenced yard.
