Off-Grid with Secluded Waterfalls & Jungle Baths
Off-Grid with Secluded Waterfalls & Jungle Baths
Description
Our property is fed by its own natural spring & we have a high quality drinking filter on site, so we are never affected by any island wide water shortages. We are “off grid”! Escape to our jungle retreat with river access, outdoor tubs, lush gardens, and vibrant peacocks. Enjoy fast Starlink WiFi and eco-luxury amenities. Your serene riverside haven awaits. (Weddings require separate booking/application on our website TemplisAquaria. Event access not included in Airbnb stays.) The space Nurturing Spaces for the Soul- In the heart of the rain forest! Update on the Water Crisis in Puerto Rico: Our property is fed by a natural spring that never gets rationed or shut off. It’s a private water source maintained by several families in the area that was made after the community went without city water for more than 6 months following hurricane Maria. It’s natural spring water flows year round. Occasional maintenance lasts an hour max, not days. Even so, we have over 200 gallons of back up water saved in a cistern should it ever need maintenance. In 7 years, it’s only gone out 1 time when a pipe needed repairs. We also have a state of the art drinking water filter in the gazebo, so you never have to worry about water. The property itself is surrounded by 4 rivers (one of which is an artesian spring or “Manantial” that you can drink directly from, it’s that pure!). This is probably the safest, most water secure compound on the entire island. …. Templīs Aquaria is designed to connect you with the wild beauty of Puerto Rico while offering comfort, intention, and serenity. What makes this retreat unforgettable: 1. Two Waterfalls On-Site: • Aquaella – our year-round waterfall and secret swimming hole, accessible only through the property. • Aquellos – a dramatic seasonal waterfall visible from your door after heavy rains. 2. Solar Power: Enjoy a sustainably powered stay with our advanced solar system. 3. Eco-Luxury Baths: Soak under the sky in our outdoor bathtubs beside the river. 4. Heart-Centered Design: Every space is curated with crystals, sacred herbs, and uplifting literature to support reflection and peace. 5. Starlink WiFi: Reliable, high-speed internet for those who work remotely or want to stream with ease. 6. Secure Parking: Gated on-site parking available for your peace of mind. 7. Outdoor Cooking: Choose between a commercial gas stove or traditional Puerto Rican wood-fire grill under the palm-thatched gazebo. 8. Rope Bridge Views: Cross our floating bridge for a magical view of the river below. 9. The Land’s Residents: Share the space with our beloved chickens, peacocks, and ducks as you enjoy the gardens and jungle paths. Templīs Aquaria was created to invite deep rest and soul connection while honoring the land. ***Please Note: Embrace the Off-Grid Experience Our property is remote and primarily off-grid, offering a unique and natural escape from the comforts of city life. Here’s what to keep in mind: Hot Water Systems We have two hot water systems to ensure your comfort: 1. Solar Tank: This system heats water using the sun. On rainy winter days, the water may be cooler due to limited sunlight. Additionally, if hot water runs out at night, you will need to wait until the sun recharges the system the next morning. 2. Gas Water Heater: This system powers the outdoor tubs and is pressure-activated, relying on natural water pressure as we are on spring water. In cases of low pressure, the flame may go out. You can reset it by briefly turning the water off and on again. Power Conservation While Puerto Rico is known for power outages, our state-of-the-art solar system with four batteries ensures reliable energy. However, during grid outages, please practice energy conservation: • Charge devices during peak sunlight hours. • Conserve energy after sunset. • Turn off lights and appliances when not in use. Be Prepared for Adventure This experience offers an exciting return to a more natural way of living. It’s perfect for those ready to embrace the beauty and quirks of off-grid life. Please only book if you’re prepared to roll with the punches and enjoy the adventure! KINDLY NOTE — PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING We want every guest who stays here to arrive excited and comfortable with the experience, so please take a moment to read these details carefully before booking. LOCATION & REMOTE SETTING Please review the map and make sure you are comfortable with our location and travel distances. You can use El Chorro de Doña Juana, located next door, as a landmark when planning your trip. This is a remote, off-grid property in the mountains of Puerto Rico, surrounded by nature. The peaceful, secluded setting is a large part of the experience, and it also means that shops, restaurants, gas stations, and other conveniences are a significant drive away. The closest dining and shopping options are approximately one hour away. We are about 10 minutes from Toro Negro Forest and approximately one hour from Toro Verde. Please look up the location and travel times before booking to make sure this setting is a good fit for your trip. MOUNTAIN ROADS Roads through the interior of Puerto Rico are winding and narrow. During approximately the last 10 minutes of the drive, portions of the road become single-lane. You may encounter normal local traffic along this section. Residents are accustomed to navigating these roads and will generally yield as needed when vehicles meet. Guests who are uncomfortable driving on narrow, winding mountain roads should take this into consideration before booking. DRIVEWAY Our driveway is quite steep. Regular cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks routinely access the property, and 4WD is not required. The driveway is not suitable for buses or similarly large vehicles. The easiest way to drive up is to first align your vehicle with the driveway from the flat parking area below, then maintain a steady speed all the way to the top. There is a flat area where you can stop once you reach the top. If your vehicle does not have 4WD, avoid stopping midway up the incline, as you may lose momentum and need to carefully reverse back down and try again. It can feel unfamiliar the first time, particularly for guests who are accustomed to flatter roads. Please make sure you are comfortable with a steep mountain driveway before booking. CLIMATE & AIR CONDITIONING Please be aware that there is no air conditioning at the property. Our mountain location is high in elevation and has its own rainforest microclimate, which is generally much cooler than the coastal and lower-elevation areas of Puerto Rico. Many guests are surprised by how cool and brisk it can feel here, particularly in the evenings and after rainfall. Because this is a rainforest environment, humidity and rain are a natural part of the climate. We provide dehumidifiers to help reduce indoor moisture and make the rooms more comfortable. Temperatures naturally vary with the weather and season, so we strongly encourage you to check the forecast before your stay and look at historical temperature averages for the area if temperature is important to your comfort. For the most relevant weather information, search for: Ala de la Piedra, Orocovis, Puerto Rico 00720 You can also use El Chorro de Doña Juana, located next door, as the closest landmark when checking the forecast. Most guests find the mountain climate very comfortable, and many comment on how refreshingly cool it feels compared with other parts of Puerto Rico. Rainy evenings can become surprisingly chilly. Everyone experiences temperature differently. If you tend to run hot, require air conditioning to sleep comfortably, or are particularly sensitive to temperature or humidity, please check the forecast and expected conditions carefully before booking to make sure our natural mountain climate will be comfortable for you. INDOOR & OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE Please review the listing photos carefully, as the rooms pictured are the rooms included in your stay. The indoor accommodations consist of three bedrooms and the kitchen/dining area shown in the photos. There is no separate indoor living room. A large part of the experience here is enjoying the outdoor spaces, including the gazebo and surrounding rainforest. Guests often spend their time outside enjoying the property, nature, rivers, and mountain environment. ARTWORK & DECOR The property includes South and Southeast Asian-inspired artwork and décor, including Buddhist imagery and other pieces influenced by the cultures and spiritual traditions of the region. These pieces are part of the character of the property and can be seen throughout the listing photos. Please review the photos before booking. If Buddhist imagery or South and Southeast Asian-inspired artwork would make you uncomfortable or conflict with your personal preferences, beliefs, or expectations for your accommodations, we respectfully ask that you choose a property that will be a better fit for your stay. To us, it is just pretty art, but to some it may not be. PLEASE BOOK WITH THE EXPERIENCE IN MIND This is an advanced off-grid mountain stay. It is best suited to guests who are excited about seclusion, nature, mountain roads, outdoor living, and the realities that come with staying somewhere genuinely remote. Please review the location, photos, amenities, road conditions, driveway information, climate, lack of air conditioning, artwork and décor, and description carefully before completing your reservation. We want you to know exactly what to expect before you arrive so that your stay begins with excitement rather than surprises. Reservations should be made with these disclosed characteristics of the property in mind, and they should not be considered grounds for a refund after arrival. Guest access Enjoy the exclusive downstairs unit. The upstairs is reserved for the host—we may or may not be on site during your stay. You’re welcome to relax in the gazebo, explore the yard, and enjoy the riverfront. Planning a Wedding or Elopement? Templīs Aquaria is also a sacred venue for intimate ceremonies.
