The Resting Place, located in the suburbs of Chicago, offers a peaceful stay and the 'little touches' that bring rest: double insulated coffee mugs to keep your tea or coffee piping hot, sound machines, blackout curtains, memory foam mattresses and pillows, and slippers. This home is perfect for the traveling nurse, college student, business-person, and intern. Wheaton College: 15m Wheaton Academy: 5m Downtown Chicago: 55m Train Station: 15m walk or 2m drive Central DuPage Hospital: 7m I created The Resting Space after AirBnbing my personal home for five years. I realized that there is STILL a massive need for affordable accommodations that are also cozy, clean, and, indeed, meant for rest. I believe that people are the best versions of themselves after encountering real Rest. So, at The Resting Place, you'll find cozy blankets, our Signature Four Pillow rule, glass double insulated Bodum coffee mugs (BEST MUGS EVER PERIOD), sound machines, blackout curtains, and plush towels that smell like Downy. The Resting Place is for the college intern, the contract worker, and the businessperson. People who are looking for a home away from home. This is important to note: The home has seven rooms. One room is utilized full-time by my Property Manager. (She will oversee each stay and ensure every guest is given legendary customer service.) The other six rooms are available for short-term or longterm stays. During your stay, you will definitely interact with Property Manger Dede (lucky you!). You will also very likely interact with other guests. And maybe me. And maybe my sweet labradoodle, Ace. If you're looking for real Rest and you're a fan of sharing spaces with the world's most interesting traveler's, then The Resting Place is the space for you. As a guest, you'll have access to your room. You'll also have access to the kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and living room. My property manager, Dede, lives on the property. She'll be around to answer any questions. I live in the neighborhood so I may run into you (I walk my sweet pup Ace quite a bit). If so, I'll be happy to say hi! The Resting Place is located in a suburb of Chicago called West Chicago. West Chicago is a 55 minute drive to the City of Chicago. The neighborhood is mature and safe. (I live in the same neighborhood so maybe you'll see me around!) The neighbors are friendly (especially me). Easy to walk to Kindred Coffee Roasters, a few brunch places, grocery stores, and the train station. About a mile away (but all within the neighborhood and on sidewalks) there is the West Chicago Recreation Center (ARC). At ARC there is a gym, dog park, water park, and running path. If you're a runner, there's easy access to the Illinois Prairie Path (you'll run out of energy bars before you run out of path). Until Summer 2023 (when the ground thaws), parking at The Resting Place may be a little finicky. The Property Manager will work diligently with every guest to make parking as seamless as possible. Plan on moving your vehicle to the street each morning at 7:30. I apologize for this inconvenience. We're looking forward to remedying this problem ASAP. If you're staying at The Resting Place, you're likely working nearby. Driving: - O'Hare Airport - 35 minutes - Midway Airport- 50 minutes - Wheaton Academy - 5 minutes - Wheaton College - 15 minutes - Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) - 5 minutes Walking: - Train Station: 10-15 mins - Kindred Coffee Roasters: 10 minutes - Grocery stores: 5-15 mins Instacart, WholeFoods, Amazon Fresh, and all the normal delivery apps deliver to the house. If you're trying to figure out "how far is The Resting Place from xxx?", use Egg Yolk Cafè as your starting place in your map app. The Resting Place is very close in proximity to Egg Yolk. Coming from the airport? Midway: 1. Uber to the house (about $75 and 55 minutes) 2. Ask me to arrange transportation ($55 and 55 minutes) 3. Rent a car. There are really no easy public transportation options from Midway to West Chicago. O'Hare: 1. Uber to the house (about $60 and 35 minutes) 2. Ask me to arrange transportation ($50 and 35 minutes) 3. Rent a car 4. Take the Blue Line from O'Hare to Clark/Lake ($5 and 40 minute ride). Walk 14 mins to Ogilvie Station. Take the Pink Line to West Chicago ($7 and 55 minute ride to West Chicago train station). Walk to The Resting Place (15 minutes). Bringing your sweetheart? Let us set the tone for you. Romance Package - $59 Enjoy a bottle of sparkling wine paired with artisanal chocolates and a late checkout (1pm). Rose petals, heart-shaped tea lights, and a bouquet of fresh flowers set the mood for this night of togetherness. Ask about the Romance Package when booking and we'll send an invoice to you after booking. 1. Huge fan of kids, babies, and dogs. Unfortunately, The Resting Place is not conducive to the aforementioned blessings. 2. We're looking for mid-term / long-term stays (at least 1 month).
