There are plenty of walks straight from the hut - to fantastic local pubs like the Abbey Inn or The Stapylton or to the top of Sutton Bank ("the finest view in England"- James Herriot). Lovely local towns and villages include Helmsley, Thirsk and Pickering. Or just sit back and relax - whatever you choose to do it is all here Guest access Guest are able to access the entire Cockerdale estate (about 80 acres). Dogs on leads please are there are sheep and horses, together with many thousands of acres of the surrounding countryside and woodland. There is an extensive network of public footpaths and forest tracks throughout the entire area of national park and the adjacent Howardian Hills. The only restricted areas are the main house and garden, and the stables and barns.
