Situated at the foot of 63-acre Victoria Park “The Shipmaster's Quarters” is steps away from an outdoor public pool, a skateboard park, 3 playgrounds, the city’s premier baseball diamond, and a 1.2 km oceanside boardwalk. THE KITCHEN The modern kitchen is outfitted with all major appliances including a fridge, stove/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Other amenities include a toaster, Keurig coffee maker, kettle, cooking ware, cutlery, and all the kitchen needs you are used to finding in your own home. The stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and double sink give this historic home a modern appeal. THE DINING ROOM A dedicated dining room is a rarity in most short-term rentals! The dining room is directly off of the kitchen and has a table that comfortably seats six. THE LIVING ROOM The living room has an amazing view of Victoria Park and the oceanside boardwalk. This room has a large sofa, two large comfy chairs with an ottoman, and an electric fireplace with a flatscreen TV on the mantle (Netflix and cable included). There is also a variety of classic board games and books to keep you entertained during your stay. THE MASTER BEDROOM The Shipmaster's Quarter's would not be so without a king-sized bed in the master bedroom. This room also includes two bedside tables, a walk-in closet, a full dresser, and a reading corner with a comfy chair. The master bedroom overlooks a large backyard and is extremely quiet. SECOND BEDROOM The second bedroom is sizeable and has a cozy queen-sized bed. The room also has a bed side table, reading lamp, and a vintage dresser where you can store clothes throughout your stay. THE BATHROOM The immaculately clean and bright bathroom showcases a classic claw foot tub that can also function as a shower. The vanity includes a double sink and stepping stool for children. There is also a dresser for linens, towels, and other bathroom amenities. THE LAUNDRY ROOM There is a private laundry room in the finished basement complete with a full-sized washer and dryer to use throughout your stay (laundry detergent provided). THE SHIPMASTER'S THEME The Brighton area was once a shipyard where wooden boats were built. If you go to the boardwalk at low tide you can still see the stone ramp which was once used as a launch. This historic house used to be the shipmaster's quarter's during the days when boats were built in the area. You will notice that "The Shipmaster's Quarters" is subtly decorated to pay homage to the historical history of the house and Brighton area. Guest access You enter the unit from a private key-less entry at the right side of the house (a separate rental unit has a private entrance at the front of the house). You will be given an access code to use throughout your stay. Other things to note This is one of two accommodation options at this location (duplex). Both spaces are fully separate and private with no potential interaction among guests. The only shared space is the backyard lawn which both sets of guests are free to use. Some guests may also be interested to know that the two units can be configured into a 4-bedroom rental by opening a locked door internally between the two units. This door is standardly locked when we rent the units separately. Contact us if you are interested in the 4-bedroom rental option. This is a family friendly rental. We will try to accommodate your needs in advance if possible. There is a private driveway for this unit on the right side of the house (with two parking spots side-by-side) and a private entry at the side of the house. Guests with mobility issues should note, that there are several sets of stairs (short flights of 2-4 stairs each) on both the outside and inside of the house. In addition, mobility in and out of the clawfoot tub may present challenges for some guests. Since this is a character home. I all floors are perfectly level. There no smoking (including vaping or cannabis) permitted in the unit or on the property. Guests have access to a smart TV. While there is no cable access, the TV does have access to most streaming platforms for guests to sign into using their personal accounts.
