Description
A modern take on a vintage space! Encompassing over 1200 square feet on 2 floors, this former artist studio has been lovingly recreated as an eclectic 2 bedroom duplex down, from the original 100+ year old tin ceiling, to the century old bedroom door re-purposed as a desk. The space This vintage storefront unit was originally the neighborhood cobbler from post Chicago fire days 100+ years ago. More recently during Bucktown's artist colony days, it was the former studio of famous Chicago artist Richard Loving. The space has been completely rehabbed to modern standards, from the gourmet Thermador stove to the oversized tub. We have tried to create a very livable 2 bedroom duplex down, while keeping the vintage charm of 100+ year old tin ceilings and original old growth maple floors. The main floor is the primary living space with kitchen, dining area, living room and bathroom. Even though AirBnB describes the bathroom as 1.5 baths, it is not the normal American definition of a bath and a half. The toilet has its own dedicated room with a door, and the shower / sink is in a separate room with a door. Thus you can enter each independently, but there is physically only one toilet in the apartment. For whatever reason AirBnB calls this 1.5 baths. The lower level has two private bedrooms, an office nook, and laundry room. There is no bathroom on the lower level (i.e. bedroom level). In homage to the buildings history as an artist's home and workshop, I have commissioned a display of Chicago themed prints from local photographers. Guest access You will have access to the entire apartment. Other things to note Children are allowed on a case by case basis but must be approved. This apartment is NOT child friendly. This is an older building before the concept of 'child friendly' was created. The unit has great internet service. There are a couple newer smart TVs, but no cable channel service...i.e. just access to streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, etc as long as you have your own accounts to log in with. Also street parking is real easy around here, but if you need PARKING for a larger truck or commercial vehicle, let me know as we can typically rent a spot in the lot next door.
