Arkville Chalet is a freshly renovated 1930s log cabin Less than 5 min from Margaretville, 8 min from Belleayre Ski Area, 18 min from Plattekill, 20 min from Phoenicia, and 35 min from Woodstock. Hiking, fishing, golf, dining, and more skiing opportunities abound nearby. Right off Rte 28 with end-of-road privacy and panoramic mountain views, it sits on 30 acres of hardwoods, pines, and caves along ~400 acres of NYC DEP Watershed Rec Area. Fire pits, grills, and an outfitted kitchen await. Two bedrooms (one queen; one twin-over-full bunk bed) and one full bath down a private driveway offer charm, seclusion, and wildlife sighting for couples, families, and small groups. We have more than 30 acres on a slope with old logging trails throughout, a handful of caves and a mix of pine and hardwood forest, so bring your hiking boots! It also backs up into ~400 acres of NYC DEP Watershed Recreation Area for more hiking. And there’s a wood-burning stove perfect for the fall and winter weather in case you just want to cozy up indoors. Entire cabin and outdoor space with grills and a fire pit overlooking Big Indian Wilderness. Arkville is a quiet little post along Route 28 where three rivers (the Dry Brook, Bushkill, and the East Branch of the Delaware) converge. Hikes, swimming holes, and skiing opportunities abound. The little hamlet lies between the two slightly larger villages of Fleischmann’s and Margaretville, which offer a broader range of restaurants and grocery stores, but has a breakfast and lunch joint that serves as our local greasy spoon, a distillery, a pizza restaurant, and the Delaware-Ulster train line for a slow, scenic mountain ride. From route 28, in Arkville, turn right on Church street, then turn right on Hill Street. Go to the end of the road and up the dirt driveway to the cabin at the very end. The driveway is unpaved and easily accessible with any vehicle during summer months, but it's best to have 4WD in winter. :)
