Little House in the Big Woods
This guest-house cabin is nestled on our family’s 5 acres in the pine forests of the Sierra Nevadas. Only 3hrs from San Francisco, 2hrs from Sacramento, and 20min from Chico, come unplug in this newly remodeled space and enjoy a slice of authentic rural living. Recharge in solitude or get out-and-about to enjoy the countryside. There is nearby hiking, mountain biking, disc golf, & swimming. Also only about an hour drive to beautiful Lake Almanor and the amazing gem of Lassen National Park. The space The furnishings and amenities in this tiny-home cabin are designed to maximize relaxation starting with the Cal King bed and Casper memory foam mattress. In addition to that, the 55” Roku smart-TV, espresso maker, fully stocked kitchenette, small library of some of our favorite books, board games & puzzles, washer & dryer, along with the pellet stove fireplace for winter stays, were all thoughtfully curated to allow you to rest, unwind, and enjoy yourself. There is an abundance of wildlife here. Some of our favorites are deer, turkey, and salamanders. We are working to clear out the overgrown sections of the forest and establish meadows in more open sections. We are also rehabilitating a very small old orchard to bear fruit again. The cabin is located adjacent to our home on the property. Guest access The cabin shares the property with our home but a large portion of the yard is maintained solely for the use of cabin guests. We occasionally rent our house as well. The studio space feels private with no obligation to interact with the main house residents. You’ll be able to check in independently to the entirely independent guest-house unit. We will send check in details like your door-code on the day of your arrival. Other things to note Our personal background is in regenerative agriculture and our family operates this property as a small homestead. At different times of the year it will feel more active in that regard than others. We occasionally have poultry on the property and we have grazed a herd of goats and livestock guardian dogs at times to help thin the forest and keep it healthy. There is also a small orchard and some forested acreage that you may see someone tending during your stay although we strive to minimize this work while guests are on site.
