Spacious home on Bantam Lake! Fully equipped four bedroom in beautiful Litchfield County, CT - just written up in the NYTimes. The biking, hiking, and fall foliage and restaurants are superb! The house is in a community which shares lakefront, red clay tennis court, playground, and more. Ideal for children: no streets or driveways between the houses. Nature Conservation Center and its museum, ice cream shops, large grocery store, and the historic villages of Litchfield and Washington close by. The space This home has two stories. The ground floor has a large front room, LR with fireplace, DR, kitchen, laundry, bathroom with shower, and bedroom with Queen size bed and accessible en-suite bathroom. Upstairs you have three bedrooms and a study. The patio is perfect for breakfast and lunch, and it is a very short walk down the grassy slope to the lake, with an overlook. The dining table fits six-eight. There is no driveway; cars are parked a short walk from the house. We are a mainly a three-season community. (Please note that the downstairs accessible bedroom and its wheelchair accessible bathroom have AC but not heat, and therefore are not suitable for sleeping in during colder weather.) Guest access The house, swim dock, boat dock, tennis court, playground, gravel parking lot, and common grassy areas all yours to enjoy. There are no fees for the trail system of the nearby White Memorial Conservation Center! Guests park in communal parking lot. Only listed guests may stay over or use the house or communal facilities without advance permission from host. . Other things to note Our three-season home is in a small a community of friendly families. It is safe for children to play barefoot on our grassy areas (there are no cars); well-behaved dogs (one dog), can come with advance permission of the host. In the summer, enjoy our red clay tennis court, private boat dock, and share our two kayaks and canoe with us. (Bicycles are not provided.) There is an outdoor ping pong table and swing set. The lake is fantastic! This is the ideal vacation trip for a family who need to get out of the city (there are toys galore), for the lake in summer, and the colorful foliage in fall. The White Memorial Conservation Center nature preserve has miles of hiking and running trails, and there are many land trust (Steep Rock, Litchfield, Morris) with trails, as well as the charming towns of Litchfield and of Washington, and easy access to antiquing near Kent Falls or Sharon. Also have several quite fine dining options in the area, a large supermarket, and excellent ice cream shops!
