Spirit House is an entirely off-grid, solar powered, solidly built tropical wood home set in a pristine Bahamian wilderness 3 miles down a private road from the nearest settlement of Devils Point, Cat Island, The Bahamas. The house was designed by Parisian designer Stella Vajsova-Jones and features 5 unique bedrooms, all with comfortable beds. There are ample dining and living spaces and a fully equipped kitchen, spacious wraparound verandahs and 3 large decks. Spirit House was built to be self sufficient and electricity is supplied by solar power and water from our 15K gallons rainwater tanks, in addition we have a generator and a well. It is the perfect retreat house for those seeking ultimate relaxation and communion with sun sand and sea. Gardens surround the house with many flowering plants and fruit bearing trees as well as herbs and vegetables. You will find a fridge, freezer, dish washer, washing machine as well as books, games and dependable high speed Wi-Fi. There are healthy beautiful coral reefs right off the beach and miles of coastline to explore for shells and other treasures of the sea that wash ashore daily. Spirit House sits on a 70 foot elevation overlooking the multi-hued brilliant blue waters of Exuma Sound and the southwest coast of Cat Island. There are nearly 180° of ocean view including 3 exquisite white sand beaches and a tidal wetlands which is home to egrets , herons and osprey. Sunrise over the lagoon, sunset over the ocean, a full moon which shines almost as bright as day with its mysterious silver light. On moonless nights a brilliant field of stars unlike anything that can be experienced in light polluted places can all be enjoyed from the decks and verandahs. Better yet, rent a 4WD vehicle for your stay. The listed rate is for the full house. Full occupancy is 10 people. We do not rent single rooms but if you choose to rent the full house at less than full occupancy you are free to do so. We clean thoroughly before every guest arrival and clean and change linens every 4 days. If you desire daily cleaning we will provide it at 100$ /day cash. We can also arrange cooking and other activities such as live music and day sailing charters at an extra fee. The best places to rent your vehicle - ask for 4WD - is Alvernia’s Car Rental or Gilbert's Car Rental, both are close to the airport and are the two main grocery stores on the island, make sure to stock up on anything you may need for your stay!
