Relax at this peaceful dog friendly place to stay. With the smell of the Irish sea, and rural walks from your doorstep, this will be the perfect base to explore the Western Lake District National Park. Ample living space for entertaining and for working groups or families alike. Close to sandy beaches, Lakes and fells (mountains). Activities nearby include paddle boarding, horse riding, sailing, canoeing, mountain climbing, kart racing, wild swimming, waterfall hunting, paragliding and more! The space Croft Cottage used to be the stablemaster's quarters and the stables, across the country lane behind a lovely Victorian walled garden is the old manor house Roseneath where the Lord and Lady lived. It has been lovingly restored to its former glory with a huge living room and dining room with a splendid huge double facing log burner, perfect for entertaining. There is a further two bedrooms and small shower room and w.c on the ground floor accessed through the outside. A wild woodland space at the back is enclosed and fenced for dogs. Croft Cottage has a fully enclosed woodland outdoor space, meshed and fenced so suitable for both large and small dogs. There is also a courtyard style parking area with Victorian diamond pavers and gravel with enough space for 4 or more cars as well as side parking off the country lane. The house will not be accessed by anyone else whilst you've booked it. We have got a small enclosed garden suitable for dogs. A BBQ is provided and a table and chairs. **bookings made before 5th December 2025** house is separated into two sections. the main house and the annexe. **Bookings after 5th December** the entire house will be opened up and one additional upstairs bedroom and bathroom made available to accommodate a total of 12 adults and 2 infants. Other things to note Croft Cottage is situated down a no through traffic country lane, that leads to a farmhouse with alpacas and sheep and horses. There are walks and footpaths from the doorstep including being able to access the lovely Coastal way that leads to a local beach (Parton). Beaches are a mere 5 to 10 minutes drive away, including the famous St Bees head, a sandy dog friendly beach and also home to a marvellous cliff coastal walk. You can walk to the nearest beach through fields (and briefly along a main road) or to woodland walks nearby from the doorstep. The Coastal path is also nearby, from St Bees and beyond, including gorgeous and quiet Fleswick Bay with steps down to the bay and its crystals. Buttermere, Loweswater, Crummock Water, Bassenthwaite and Wast Water are your closest Lakes in the National Park. For business stays, we are conveniently close to all main roads whilst being peaceful and tucked away, and the luxury of having a huge space and freedom is something that our business guests rate highly. Things to note: Croft Cottage features beautiful, traditional stone flooring—full of character and typical of old Cumbrian cottages. While the floors are thoroughly cleaned before every stay, their natural textures, markings, and weathered appearance can sometimes give the impression of being dusty or worn. Croft Cottage is a traditional stone property dating back to the 1800s. As with many period homes, especially those in rural areas sich as this one, its age and construction mean it can be more prone to natural dust settling, despite thorough and regular cleaning. This is simply part of the nature of historic buildings and contributes to the authentic charm of staying in a home with such heritage. Dogs may be left unattended for short periods only and if left we kindly ask that they are crated or monitored via a pet camera, and that you have suitable holiday insurance in place to cover any accidental damage. We do have dog crates and dog pens available for hire, subject to availability. These must be requested and booked in advance, so please let us know ahead of your stay if you’d like to reserve one.
