Description
Parattah is a small village in the Oatlands area in the Southern Midlands of Tasmania, Australia. The old Tudor style building, formerly the Parattah Railway Hotel, is a truly unexpected sight emerging in the pastural landscape and is situated behind the famous railway station. This 1st floor apartment is only 5 mins drive from Oatlands. The apartment sleeps four people with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and spa bathroom. This unique place has a style all its own. The space From the 1800's to mid 1900's the Parattah Railway Hotel serviced railway guests on the main line from Hobart to Launceston. This magnificent piece of history and is now our home, and we have renovated an upstairs wing, previously the managers quarters for guests. The apartment is in the older part built in the 1850’s, prior to the construction of the Tudor Style addition. It has a fully equipped kitchen and spa bathroom. There a two separate double bedrooms. The one on the west side is separated by bifold doors which opens to the lounge area with a separate desk and dressing table. The other is on the east side and is spacious. The apartment is very light, but we have added blinds and block out curtains for your convenience. The kitchen, at the northern end of the apartment, has a sunny aspect and is fully equipped, with a small fridge and small oven with hotplates. We have also provided an electric frypan and some breakfast items for your first morning. The Southern Midlands, is a great place to base oneself for day trips to the north, east, central and south of Tasmania. Launceston is approximately 1.30 hours, and Hobart is 1.15 hours. There are many local sites rich in history worth visiting; Oatlands which boasts the most sandstone buildings in any Australian town; and other historic villages such as Ross, only ½ hour drive away; Richmond, 45 minutes; and Campbelltown, 45 minutes. There is a scenic walking/cycling track from Parattah to Oatlands via Lake Dulverton. Internet is provided as is mobile reception through Telstra only. There is public parkland at the front, and a public barbeque area with seating at the railway station. Guest access The apartment is fully self contained and lockable with 2 bedrooms. NOTE FOR SINGLES: If you are 2 people not sharing a bedroom, please enter 3 guests to access 2nd bedroom. Our prices are based on 2 people occupying one bedroom and 4 people occupying 2 bedrooms. Please let us know if you are two singles wanting both rooms as otherwise the system (and I) will assume that you are a couple and only one bedroom will be prepared for you. The rest of the property is our private residence. Other things to note The double wrought iron bed is lengthened by about 30 cm for your comfort.
