FULL REHAB JUST COMPLETED/transformed into a cozy Victorian home in Chicago’s unique Pullman Village. House is an 1800's time capsule rowhouse (called “cottage”) & the only truly period Pullman home on AirBnB, reflecting the area's Historic Landmark status. Stay here for a truly immersive extension of a visit to Pullman's National Park or the area's new walking tours. Ideal for train/history/architecture/Park buffs, or just a quiet, unique place to unplug & live like olden days with loved ones. The space The large master bedroom has a full-sized bed with antique spring frame, reflective of the olden days. The 2 smaller-sized bedrooms each have a twin-sized bed; one of the bed frames is a Jenny Lind spindle frame on springs, also from the era. If necessary, a 4th or 5th person could sleep in the front parlor, on the small antique sofa or an inflatable mattress on the floor. All bedrooms and the main bathroom are on the 2nd floor. That bathroom has a clawfoot soaking tub, no shower (reflective of the era). In the basement (which is through the kitchen), there is a walk-in shower and 2nd toilet. First floor has a cozy parlor and large kitchen, as well as an "air-lock vestibule" entry. Everything has been recently remodeled to reflect the antiquity of the home--even the dishes and glassware are beautifully vintage! Touches of original wallpaper have been kept in every room that had it--see if you can determine what's old and what's new! Look out for other original details, like ornate door hinges, portier supports, and a mystery wall item near the bottom of the main stairs. This home has been designed to be a unique stay in a unique neighborhood, and people who appreciate that will be the best fit. It is not a crash pad, and it does not have all the bells and whistles of a modern-style home. It is also not a hotel. It is a home, with side walls shared with neighbors due to all the area homes being rowhouses. Respect toward us, home and neighbors is paramount. Also, please, research the area and its proximity to things before you book. Guest access The entire home and fenced backyard is yours during your stay. Other things to note AC generally cools about 20 degrees below outside temperature, so if it is a heatwave near 100 Fahrenheit, and you prefer temps in the 60's, this might not work for you. Also, the only shower is a walk-in shower in the basement. It's seiling height is only about 6 feet. Also, one needs to walk down/up two flights of stairs and through the kitchen to go between the shower and bedroom. Due to that and newly refinished (slightly slippery) wood floors, you might want to bring a pair of rubber-soled slippers, shoes, or sandals. Registration number R23000102594
