Welcome to our charming eco cottage situated at the end of a bumpy track at the south end of the island. A great base to explore the rustic charm of Carriacou–the unspoiled hidden gem of the Caribbean! Being totally off grid the cottage power and water facilities are not affected by hurricane Beryl The space . The traditional Carriacou wooden cottage is powered by solar energy and collects and stores rainwater for household use. Open concept with a double bed and mosquito net; kitchenette equipped with the basics for self-catering (small fridge, gas burner stove and an outdoor BBQ (charcoal/wood); and a bathroom with a hot water shower. Folding doors open onto your private verandah overlooking the sea. Nestled between two beaches, the windward side is mere steps away, breezy and cool–a perfect spot for kite surfing! A short walk takes you over to the west-facing beach for great swimming and first-rate snorkelling. Living off-the-grid means being off the beaten track. Secluded but not remote, a 20-minute walk on an unpaved road will take you to the village of Hermitage where you can catch a bus to Harvey Vale or town (Hillsborough). Buses run regularly throughout the day, although we recommend renting a 4x4 jeep if you wish to explore the island on your own or dine out in the evening. Relax in a hammock and enjoy nature. An excellent perch for birdwatchers to observe seabirds in their natural habitat; see ospreys, pelicans and frigatebirds show off their fishing skills. The surrounding garden is a playground for hummingbirds, bananaquits, mockingbirds and Carib grackles. The evening soundtrack features crickets, singing frogs and waves lapping at the shore to lull you to sleep at night (and there’s always a few friendly geckos around to help keep mosquitoes in check). Guest access We are happy to meet you from the ferry or airport. If there is a lot of rain the track to the cottage is usually only accessible by 4x4 or walking.. It is a 25 min walk beside beach and farm land. to Harvey vale village. If there is a lot of rain it can be muddy. The cottage is in a remote setting There is a private entrance to cottage and garden with shared access to beaches. Other things to note Nestled between two beautiful beaches; the windward side is breezy and cool, the perfect kite surfing spot! while the west facing beach is great for swimming and snorkeling. The whole area has amazing hikes with stunning views.
