Comfortable, cozy second floor bedroom with shared bath in the hamlet of Syosset, less than 5 minutes walk from the LIRR and 5-10 minutes from wedding and event venues such as Fox Hollow Inn, Crest Hollow, the Tilles Center, NYCB Theatre Westbury and The Paramount in Huntington Village. The room has a twin bed with a new European pillow-top mattress, A/C, a mini-fridge, and optional full-size futon (ON FLOOR) for two guests. NO SMOKERS ACCEPTED NO PERFUME AT ALL NO EXCEPTIONS Thank you This is a bright room with three windows and you will have the morning sun streaming in from the east. It's a very comfortable and quiet room on the second floor of my house. The twin bed is dreamy to sleep on and if there are two of you, you will have a super-comfortable 8" 100% cotton futon ON THE FLOOR - NO FRAME. The room is a bit tight when the futon is rolled out - just want you to be aware of that. The sheets on the bed and futon are 100% organic cotton which means they are not treated with chemicals to keep them from wrinkling. Therefore, they will have wrinkles! There is a window air conditioner in your room. The air conditioner is generally in the window from June to October only. There are three windows in the room that open to provide fresh air when you want it. Note: there is NO air conditioning in the bathroom but there is a fan! There is also a mini-fridge in the room to store cold drinks and small food items. There are snacks and assorted teas, instant coffee, hot cocoa and an electric tea kettle for boiling water. Across the very short hall from your room is our bedroom and in the middle is a shared bath with tub and shower. The shower has a handheld sprayer with filtered water. Towels and linens provided, along with organic Or natural soap and shampoo. There is a blow dryer in the guest room on the shelf. There is no chair or desk in the room - FYI. You will enter through the front door and up the stairs to the right you’ll have access to your room and the shared bath on the second floor right outside your room. You will have a tv and DVD player and Apple TV in your room. NOTE: THERE IS NO CABLE TV IN THE HOUSE! There's an additional HDMI port if you'd like to bring your own Firestick. If you need to keep food or drinks cold, there is a mini-fridge in the room although eating or drinking anything messy is not permitted in the guest room. Thanks :) NO meals or kitchen usage available, but there is an electric kettle in your room for boiling water to make tea or instant coffee, although Bagelmaster, Cardinali's Bakery, J's Market, and Dunkin' Donuts are all within a five minute walk if you prefer. Recently opened - One Spring Coffee Shop at 8 Jackson Ave right in the center of town, and Coco Bubble Tea on Cold Spring Rd., both less than 5 minutes on foot. There will be a basket of Trader Joe's snacks, an assortment of tea and a glass gallon jug of filtered water in your room as well as a 20 oz. glass bottle of filtered water in the fridge when you arrive. If you need more water, just ask! Guests do NOT have access to our living area. (living room, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom). We are renting the guest bedroom with shared bath only. Of course, we're very happy to greet you and chat a bit when you come in or go out if we're around :) You will have a key to the front door to keep with you while you're staying with us. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THE HOUSE RULES so that there is no question about what each of us expects from the other - thanks. Interaction with us will vary according to your schedule and ours but I try to be here to greet guests when possible and will be available in person or by text or phone to help you with information, transportation needs, etc. We live in a beautiful, suburban neighborhood in the hamlet of North Syosset on the North Shore of Long Island. Whether you are here for business or pleasure, you will find this to be a great location. The house is a 2-story Cape Cod that sits on a corner. Walk about 2 minutes and you will be in the center of town and at the Long Island Railroad Station! Hop on a westbound train and be in Penn Station in less than an hour. Jamaica is 30 minutes away. Heading east, we are on the Cold Spring Harbor/Huntington/Port Jefferson line. Here's a partial list of what's available within 5 minutes on foot: Restaurants Nail salons Hair salons Massage/facial Acupuncture Chiropractic Barber shops Dry cleaners Laundromat Tailoring Banks/ATM's Beauty supply Holistic wellness center Float tank Foot massage Florist Best bagels around! (Bagelmaster) 7-11 CVS Domino’s Pizza Dunkin' Donuts Baskin-Robbins New York Sports Club J's Market Grocery store Post Office The Wine Cellar Park Starbucks is only five minutes by car and within 10-15 minutes you will find Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and every kind of suburban store and restaurant you can think of! And here's a list of things to do in the area: Hiking (state parks, Greenbelt Trail), Biking (bike trails to the beach or through the woods), Golfing (including the famed Black Course at Bethpage State Park - site of the PHA and U.S. Open!), Tennis, Kayaking, Swimming, Paddle boarding, Rollerblading, Museums (art, children's, air & space, whaling & more), Old Westbury Gardens, Planting Fields Arboretum, Walt Whitman's House, Sagamore Hill (Teddy Roosevelt's house), Historic Oyster Bay, Quaint shops in Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington Village (nightlife and all the best restaurants and shopping) Explore the North Shore (Great Gatsby country & the setting of several Nelson DeMille Novels including The Gold Coast), Live music venues, Cross country skiing, Ice skating, Adventureland Amusement Park, Long Island Adventure Park (zip lining, etc.), Splash Splash Water Park (40 minutes away by car), North Shore beaches (Long Island Sound) - 10 minutes by car, South Shore beaches (Atlantic Ocean) - 20 minutes by car It's a great place to live or to visit! Getting here: By plane: if you land at JFK, you can hop on the AirTrain that will take you to Jamaica station in Queens. From there, you can take an eastbound Long Island Railroad train right to Syosset. It will cost you approximately $12 for the whole trip and will take you about 45 to 50 minutes. If I am home, I will gladly pick you up at the station. If not, it is only a two minute walk to the house! An airport limo, taxi or Uber to our door will be about $60-80. By car: whether you're coming from the east or the west, you would take the Long Island Expressway to exit 43. Getting around: Uber and Lyft as well as taxis are readily available. Sample fare: Uber from our house to Fox Hollow is about $8. Renting a car: you can rent a car right at the airport or wait until you get here and rent one at Enterprise just a mile or two down the road in Syosset. They have a pick up and drop off service and if I'm here, I'd be happy to give you a ride. Please note: we have five CATS who live outdoors. Two of them do come in the house to sleep on the sofa so be aware that the living room furniture definitely contains some cat dander. They don’t go upstairs. Also note: I am a piano and flute teacher and have students on Saturday mornings beginning at 8:30. The studio is directly below the guest room. If this is a problem for you, I suggest checking out other places. If you're an early riser or a sound sleeper, don't hesitate to book with us! Another note: I don't provide breakfast but a two minute walk will take you to Bagelmaster where you can enjoy a full menu of breakfast meals. You can also keep your own food in the mini fridge in your room. IF YOU ARE A SMOKER OR WEAR PERFUME PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST A BOOKING AT OUR HOUSE. Thank you
