It can be reached by following the signs from the main square leading to the upper village. The village, because of its central position, often became a theater of conflicts in this revolution and many of its inhabitants left it. The village also participated in the revolution of 1895-1898, and was the headquarters of the Transitional Committee. In 1881 it was designated the seat of the municipality of Fre, one of the four of Apokoronas, and according to the census it had a purely Christian population, with 707 inhabitants.
