Welcome to the Acorn Bungalow @ Stony Clove Creek! We are so happy to offer our family vacation home for other families to enjoy! Our home is nestled in the heart of Phoenicia, right next to the tranquil Stony Clove Creek and a two minute walk to the vibrancy of Main St. Our lovingly restored home offers a perfect blend of rustic elegance and modern convenience, providing a delightful retreat for families and friends seeking an easy and memorable getaway. Come stay with us! The home has been completely renovated to add modern conveniences and luxuries while maintaining the character and charm of a traditional Craftsman Bungalow from the 1920s. A little history - years ago our family ran a very successful antique shop out of the house known as The Craftsman’s Gallery. Today, the house showcases several special pieces handmade by our master craftsman family member in his workshop located in the carriage house at the back of the property. You'll find hints of this heritage throughout the house, adding a unique touch to your stay. Don’t miss the beautiful handcrafted front door, one of about a dozen installed in homes around the region. Our family also owned and ran The Acorn, a boutique on Main Street featuring unique home décor and gifts. The handcrafted sign from the boutique now graces our front porch. We hope you are captivated by the warm ambiance and comforts of our home. We invite you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Catskills and experience our cozy bungalow by the creek. Two Minutes to Main St. Phoenicia: Our bungalow is ideally located, just steps away from all the action on Main St., ensuring easy access to local eateries, boutique shops, and cultural delights. After a day of exploring the town, unwind on the porch overlooking the serene Stony Clove Creek. The gentle sounds of the flowing water provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation and reflection. The House: The interior boasts a tasteful blend of modern amenities and craftsman detailing. The newly renovated kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a delicious home-cooked meal or brew a cup of coffee to savor on lazy mornings. The built in window seat with café table provides a lovely spot for breakfast in the morning or cocktails and socializing in the evening. The large dining room table will fit the entire family for special meals and celebrations. The dining area has a very large vinyl selection for your group to explore and enjoy. The living area invites you to kick back and snuggle up with a good book or indulge in your favorite shows on the flat-screen TV. The large sectional provides ample places for everyone to gather. Don’t miss the beautiful Greene & Greene style coffee table handcrafted by our family member that anchors the space. A wood-burning fireplace provides a cozy backdrop for chilly evenings spent inside. The comfortable and spacious window seat in the reading nook provides a quiet spot to settle down with that book you've been meaning to finish or to take a relaxing catnap while staying close to the action. Our bungalow comfortably accommodates a maximum of 8 guests (including children), making it an ideal retreat for families, friends, or couples seeking a peaceful getaway. We accept a maximum of 1 well behaved dog under 25lbs. *Please message if you plan to bring your dog* The two cozy bedrooms on the ground floor offer plush bedding and a soothing ambiance for a restful night's sleep. Both beds are king size with premium cotton bedding, blankets and pillows for your comfort. Both full bathrooms are located on the ground floor and are fully equipped with necessities such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hair dryer in each bathroom. A work from home nook is tucked away in a quiet corner for those needing to Zoom. Upstairs is a large 4 single-bed suite perfectly equipped for children. Books, toys, games, puzzles and a tv will keep kids occupied while parents have adult time downstairs! Please note the house is not baby-proofed, but we do provide several baby gates, a child’s stepstool for reaching the bathroom sink, and a Pack & Play for your convenience. No need to pack it all from home. The Exterior: Our home boasts multiple outdoor living spaces. On the back patio, a large dining table provides shaded space for outdoor dining for 8 people. A gas grill is available for guest use. The spacious sitting area at one end is shaded by a canopy of trees that has ample space for 8 to gather on the full size vintage couch and chairs. The large round hot tub is offered year round and professionally serviced after every stay. A fire pit is available along with chairs for smores making sessions. Starter wood is provided for your convenience. A hammock under the trees at the back of the large yard is available during the warmer months, as are four large vintage Adirondack chairs. There is plenty of open space in the back yard for children to run and play, kick a soccer ball, do somersaults, and or just generally have a great time while the adults relax. The large covered front porch has wicker chairs and tables for relaxing while you watch the world go by and listen to the soothing sounds of Stony Clove Creek. There are also two small round tables perfect for enjoying your morning cup of coffee or squeezing in a little laptop work while the house is still waking up. Guests will have access to an outdoor storage room for secure storage of skis and snowboard equipment. Guests will have access to the entire house except for a locked owner's closet, the basement and carriage house. The Acorn Bungalow @ Stony Clove is professionally managed. An offsite property manager is available to assist should you require help during your stay. Phoenicia, NY, is a picturesque village nestled in the breathtaking Catskill Mountains of New York State. Known for its natural beauty and outdoor pursuits, this charming town offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Highlights: Natural Beauty: Phoenicia is surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and the stunning Catskill Mountains, making it an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Stony Clove Creek: The town (and house) sit beside the serene Stony Clove Creek, providing tranquil spots for picnics, fishing, and relaxation. Exploring broader Catskills - we are near many quiet country towns with antiques, restaurants and boutiques to explore. The vibrancy of Woodstock is a short 20-minute drive on beautiful backroads through the forests and streams of the Catskills. Skiing and Snow Sports: Enjoy close proximity to several ski resorts. Activities: Hiking: Explore numerous trails like the Phoenicia Trail, Giant Ledge, and Slide Mountain, offering stunning views and varying levels of difficulty. Swimming: Enjoy swimming holes like the Big Deep and Fawn's Leap, offering refreshing spots to cool off during hot summer days. Explore the swimming hole at the Stony Clove Creek located a few minutes down Rt 214. Our favorite spot for warm sunny days! Fishing: Cast a line in Stony Clove Creek or Esopus Creek, known for trout and other fish species. Shopping: Stroll along Main Street, where you'll find unique boutiques, antique shops, and local artisans' works. Dining: Indulge in delicious farm-to-table cuisine at local eateries, offering a delightful mix of flavors and culinary experiences. On days when you just don’t feel like getting into a car, you are an easy 5 minute walk to the restaurants of Main Street – the Phoenicia Steakhouse for fish, steak and pasta dishes, Brio’s Pizzeria for pizza and sandwiches, The Sportsman’s Alamo Cantina for Mexican food, or Sweet Sue’s for delicious pancakes, specialty sandwiches, soups and salads, pastries, espresso and cocktails. Children will enjoy the close proximity to the ice cream shop in the warmer months. Farmer's Markets: Enjoy the Phoenicia Farmer's Market as well as wonderful markets and farms in nearby towns. Nearby Towns: Explore nearby Woodstock, Saugerties, Kingston, West Kill, Hunter, Tannersville, Fleischmanns and Windham. Each town has its own character and wonderful eateries, bars and shops. Trailways Bus Service offers a connection from NYC to Phoenicia several times a day. Having a car is recommended if you plan to explore areas beyond Phoenicia. There is limited public transportation and car services near the house. We strongly recommend a 4X4 for the winter months. Wildlife in the Catskills - we are situated in the middle of the most beautiful areas of the Catskills and nature abounds! You will likely see wildlife during your stay. You may see deer, turkeys, groundhogs, foxes, etc. Please note that we are in bear country. It is very important to discard of all garbage in the secure bear-proof garbage and recycling cans which are conveniently located not far from the back door. All bbq and food items should be brought inside and the bbq scraped clean after use to avoid having unwanted visitors. Bears are generally very timid but they make a terrible mess. The house is regularly treated for pests but being that we are in the country, it would not be unusual to have an insect or mouse make an appearance inside.
