Description

Historic Monthly Rental in Astoria This fully furnished unit offers comfort and character in a historic building just two blocks above downtown Astoria. Enjoy easy access to the riverfront, Sunday Market, shops, and dining. The building’s location provides a blend of convenience and charm, making it an ideal base for work or leisure. Whether exploring the vibrant downtown area or taking peaceful walks along the Columbia River, this rental puts you in the heart of Astoria’s best attractions. The space Historic Loft Apartment in Astoria Experience a piece of Astoria’s history in this bright, airy 1,050 sq. ft. loft, crafted from three 1860s-1880s homes that served as Chinese workforce housing in Chinatown. After surviving the 1922 fire, these structures were relocated uphill and combined into a triplex, continuing as workforce housing for over 100 years. Key Features: • Access: Reach the unit via steep, painted wooden stairs with a steel handrail. The stairs may not suit everyone. • Natural Light: Two large operable skylights, reflective walls, and dimmable lighting brighten the loft, creating a welcoming atmosphere year-round. • Kitchen: A commercial-style kitchen with stainless steel prep tables, task lighting, and updated appliances is perfect for cooking. Historic double-hung windows enhance ventilation. Please bring your own food supplies. • Living Space: A cozy sofa beneath a skylight faces a 55” Bluetooth smart TV. A small desk, dining area, and WC complete the center space. • Historic Accents: Reclaimed Douglas fir windows, doors, and shelving reflect the building’s heritage, showcasing saw marks and pinholes from its original construction. • Bedroom/Bathroom: The bedroom includes a platform bed with a firm mattress, a sitting chair, and a small dresser. Adjacent is a bathroom with a walk-in shower, vintage sink, W/D, and WC. Note: The bedroom is open to the living area, separated by partitions. • Heating: A gas stove centrally located heats the loft efficiently. Additional electric heaters provide warmth in the bedroom and bathroom. Other Highlights: • Expansive views to the north, west, and east from various rooms. • Smooth, hard-surface floors for easy cleaning. • Original shelving planks repurposed as decor. • Shoe closet at the top of the stairs. Immerse yourself in Astoria’s history while enjoying a thoughtfully updated space perfect for a unique and cozy stay. Guest access Parking and Accessibility This unit does not offer off-street parking. Please park directly in front of the building or toward 12th Street, avoiding spaces in front of neighboring houses. Additional parking is available across the street. Your host will provide more details about parking upon arrival. From this central location, most of Astoria’s attractions, shops, and restaurants are easily accessible by walking or biking, making it a convenient base for exploring the city. Other things to note Additional Notes for Your Stay • Historic Character: This unit is part of the last remaining structure from Astoria’s Chinatown, made by connecting three historic buildings. As a result, the floors are uneven and noticeably sloped in some areas, adding to its unique charm. • Neighbor Considerations: There are two living units below this space. Please be mindful of noise, especially when walking. • Skylight Care: Keep skylights closed during rain. A pole is provided to access the turn knob for easy operation. • Amenities: • The sofa does not fold out into a bed. • There is no secondary mattress in the unit. • Optional Services: Weekly cleaning service is available for an additional cost. Thank you for respecting the unique features and shared space of this historic building!
