Spring House, 1842 farmhouse, view of New River
Built in 1842, this large farmhouse was the home to many generations of the Eller family. The walnut pantry in the dining room and the mantel surround of the fireplace are original to the house. If you enjoy simple living in a historical setting, you will feel at home here. Enjoy your coffee on the front porch swing with a cool evening breeze or in the swing next to the creek listening to the rushing water. The house is located across the street from the New River. The kitchen includes everything you need for cooking: Pots/pans, dishes, utensils, etc. There is also a small table with 2 chairs in the kitchen for having your early morning coffee while everyone else is still asleep. The dining room has a farmhouse table which seats up to 6. The first floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and a side chair with ottoman. There is a full size bathroom on the first floor. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms. One queen, one full with a reading area and lots of books to choose from. It also includes a view of the river. There is a 3rd bedroom which has a twin-size bed for anyone that gets kicked out of their bed for snoring! There is full size bathroom on the second floor. There are many places to gather outside. The front porch includes a swing with rocking chairs. The picnic table is on the patio that is adjoining to the front porch. The fire pit with provided camping chairs is perfect for nights while making smores. The creek has a swing and bench. We are located in a sparsely populated community in the center of Ashe County on Hwy. 88. There is some moderate traffic on Hwy. 88 that goes by the house.
