This restored log cabin is a unique, comfortable accommodation in the middle of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Up to 3 people can enjoy the cozy cabin that's close to downtown McCarthy and the wilds of the park. Come visit--we welcome you! P.S. The space tinycabin is a lovingly-restored 30-year old Alaskan trapper's cabin, full of rustic charm and comfort. It's a small (11'x16') one-room log cabin, so come with someone you love! You'll be rewarded with an authentic "AK bush-town" experience in the middle of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. tinycabin is perfect for couples, but a third person can be easily accommodated also. There is a double bed, plus a futon mattress that can be set up on the floor. A covered porch looks out on a private grassy area (additional guests could camp), wildflowers and berry bushes, and mountain scenery. The cabin has propane heater, propane and electric lights, and electrical outlets where guests can charge electronics. Wifi is available at tinycabins, but the signal may be weak at the cabin. walk next door to our cabin and get a stronger signal from outside our home. only verizon cell phones work in mccarthy. AT&T does not work here. The kitchenette is stocked with supplies for guests to cook simply, plus "semi-running water" which is a cold water cistern and basin. Towels and linens are provided, as well as filtered drinking water. Guest access Guests have a private, clean, new outhouse for their use and are welcome to use our hot water, outdoor shower (it's rustic, but refreshing!) under the deck of our next-door home. The town of McCarthy is 2 blocks away--a quick walk to the local general store, restaurants/bar, shuttle-to-Kennecott bus stop, flightseeing operators, guide services and historical museum. The end of the Kennicott Glacier is a 20 minute walk away and the Kennecott Mines National Historic Landmark is 4 miles away; you can walk, bike or take a shuttle. Guests can only drive to the Kennicott River, then need to walk across a footbridge and either walk or shuttle-bus the 1/2 mile into McCarthy town. If you fly into McCarthy from Chitina or Anchorage with Wrangell Mountain Air, they will shuttle you to tinycabin. Other things to note Coffee and tea, cereals/oatmeal/milk are provided for guests to prepare their own continental breakfast in the cabin. the kitchenette is stocked with dishes for guests who would like to cook simply with food they bring. There is a 2 burner propane stove and pots/pans/utensils/dishes/washtubs.
