Unique and stylish, this very comfortable and relaxing space offers the peacefulness of countryside whilst being a stones throw from the beautiful city of Winchester - a very short drive or a beautiful walk away. You get the best of both worlds with the city's pubs, restaurants, cafes and historic sights close at hand as well as river walks by the Itchen & beautiful countryside straight from your door. Excellent transport links to London, M3, Southampton Airport and the New Forest. The space The lovely garden flat is set on one floor, accessed by a few steps. It's a self-contained space separate from the main house. Sadly it's not suitable for babies/children. Accommodation is set over the one floor with all rooms having a cathedral ceiling making it feel bright and sunny. From the bedroom you have a beautiful view over the fields of Compton towards Winchester and from the lounge/kitchen you have south facing views over the garden to enjoy. Ginny, our dog, spends a lot of time in the garden so she will probably come and say hello. The flat comprises a beautiful and tastefully fitted lounge area where you can, depending upon the time of year, relax and enjoy either the sunny garden views from your terrace, or in the winter light the woodburner and curl up and relax on the cosy sofa after perhaps a winter walk along the River Itchen to Winchester for lunch. The TV has all mainstream chanels plus access to Netflix, and most other apps. There is a designated Wifi network. The kitchen is fully fitted with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge /freezer as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and has a table for you to either eat or work at. The bedroom has a super comfy kingsize bed and with irish linen bedding for extra comfort. The high quality mattress and pillows ensures a great nights sleep . Waffle dressing gowns and slippers are in the wardrobe for your use. Fluffy towels are provided. There's plenty of wardrobe hanging space and a chest of drawers as well as a full length floor standing mirror. The windows are fitted with chunky shutters which are very effective light blockers at night to ensure a great night's sleep. In the ensuite bathroom there's a wonderful spacious shower, vanity unity and loo along with bath products for you to use. The south facing balcony has a seating area where you can enjoy your morning tea or coffee, open a bottle of wine in the evening and enjoy the peace of the countryside or simply just relax and enjoy the space, summer or winter. Alternatively there's another more enclosed area at the side of the flat on the lower terrace where you can bbq and eat. Please note that the main grassed garden area is reserved for our private use. Free parking is on the the private road which is very very quiet and safe with little traffic. Guest access Guest access is via a key safe just inside your well lit private entrance but we are on hand at the main house should you need us. Other things to note Whilst you can easily walk into Winchester, there are many alternatives. It's a short 6 minute drive, there's a Blue Star Bus No 1 running every 20 mins or so only a couple of minutes walk away, a short walk to Shawford Station (on the main southwest trains Southampton to London line) gives you access to Winchester within minutes or further afield places like Southampton, Southampton Airport, Bournemouth or London Waterloo (1 hr). Winchester hosts a fabulous Christmas market housed within the Cathedral close which is a magical place to explore and enjoy a mulled wine and browse the stalls. Winchester also has a local theatre and Everyman Cinema plus tons of cafes, pubs and restaurants. We are always happy to recommend places, so just ask! The South Downs Way, Clarendon Way or the Itchen navigation offers you a huge choice of walks to explore as well as some wonderful country walks straight from your door. Many sporting venues are close at hand too, St Mary's Stadium for Southampton football club is easily reached via Shawford station in about 15 minutes, the Ageas Bowl for Hampshire and other international Cricket fixtures is approximately 20 mins drive. Just a short drive to the Southdowns National Park, The New Forest, the Isle of Wight, Highclere Castle ( from Downton Abbey) and so much more.
