Enjoy a tiny house on wheels experience nestled in the North Cascade foothills. About 35 minutes to Bellingham and 20 miles to the Mt. Baker hiking trails. Frig is stocked with country breakfast makings. INQUIRE ABOUT SPECIAL (GREATLY REDUCED) LONGER TERM RENTAL IF YOU WANT TO WORK REMOTELY AND ENJOY THE NORTH CASCADES. HI SPEED WIFI HAS ALLOWED PREVIOUS GUESTS TO LOVE THIS OPTION! It's tiny, but classy! Located on a small ranch with horses and chickens). Relax and enjoy the North Cascade foothills. Property (12 acres) includes full access to the wild and scenic North Fork of Nooksack River (glacier-fed, braided and undeveloped makes you feel like you are in Alaska). Only 14 miles to the Glacier Ranger Station (where the hiking trails start); Only 32 miles from lower chair lift of Mt. Baker. You can see more pictures and numerous reviews at our other airbnb listing at Nooksack River Ranch. MORE ABOUT THE NOOKSACK RIVER: The Nooksack River is born among the glaciers and snowfields of Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan and the Twin Sisters Range. Its three forks roll down from the ramparts through shadow-dappled forest and verdant farmlands, sweeping past villages and towns, eventually flowing into the Salish Sea. The river is home to all five species of native salmon as well as steelhead and trout. Bald eagles line its banks in winter. Elk, mountain goats and bears roam the wild country of the watershed. It is currently being considered for WILD and SCENIC Designation. As a guest, you have access and time to explore! Bring water shoes since there are side channels and rocks. We request that you practice LEAVE NO TRACE use. The entire 182 sq. ft. house is all yours! Please be aware you climb a steep ladder to sleeping loft. You are welcome to explore the property and the river island. Please remember the Nooksack River is glacier-fed (ice cold), with swift currents and debris flow. In the summer there are usually side pools that are "warmer' for wading/swimming. It is dangerous during all seasons. My house is about 20 yards from the River Bungalow. I look forward to interacting with guests at the their discretion . There are resources available on numerous area activities (including favorite local hikes) and information on tiny houses. 22 Miles on Route 542 (Mt. Baker Hwy) from I-5 On the edge of the wilderness (Whatcom County is 2/3rds roadless wilderness - I love saying that to my East Coast friends!), but not far from civilization! Going East (towards Mt. Baker): Less than 1 mile to gas station and two convenience-type stores (one has a Subway in it) 3 miles to Maple Falls with two small grocery stores (some organic foods, fruits, vegetables, liquor, sandwiches) and a restaurant 12 miles to Glacier with several restaurants (at the base of Mt. Baker). Going West: 1 mile to the NorthFork Brewery which gets very high ratings on YELP for pizza and small batch beers! 7 miles to Il Caffe Rifugio 22 miles to I-5 and Bellingham (numerous restaurants and activities). Guests usually drive, however, there is a bus to/from Bellingham several times a day to a stop about a mile from the house.
