Only 2.5 hours from Toronto and about a four-hours’ drive from Ottawa, Minden makes for a great escape from the big city, come sun or snow, rain.Walk along the shores of the Gull River and take in the spectacular view that’s made for those looking to disconnect – a lush green path to walk, wooden carvings to admire along the way, and beautiful plants that come to life in the spring. The space Minden is a beautiful city nestled in Halliburton county... Come enjoy everything from a relaxing kayak ride(we do not provide kayaks you can rent them near the cottage) to swimming right from the dock in the back yard or sitting by the fireplace in our beautiful muskoka chairs having a drink. Lots to do in surrounding areas so please feel free to stop by the info centre to see everything the area has to offer. Guest access New for 2021 we will be including a paddle boat 2 kayaks with every rental. All guest must wear life jackets on the kayaks and paddle boats.Guest will have access to the full property including dock... If guest want to bring a boat please notify us 24 hrs prior to check in and you can dock right at the cottage.... Cottage has a beautiful fire pit. We sell clean large bags of firewood for 10 dollars. We provide a propane bbq and charcoal bbq (please bring charcoal) (fire pit if permitted by the city.... Fire ban in effect when it gets hot which is implemented by the city) There is absolutely NO BURNING allowed during the day... Fire pit can be used anytime after 8 pm unless there is a fire ban in effect, then there is absolutely no fire allowed as per the city that includes charcoal bbq. Other things to note Walkabout therapeutic farm riding is located on our street and kids get to enjoy a pony ride and interact with the horses great experience for kids and adults and all for great cause. The Minden falls Rapids Fennelon falls in Balsam provincial park The gull river Rapids Riverside inn restaurant is amazing food and a must if your in the area call ahead for reservations. Panoramic park located 10 mins from the cottage. Kawartha dairy is 10 mins from the cottage... try the world famous ice cream and milkshakes.... don't let the long lines change your mind they move fast. Not in the mood to cook breakfast.. let the chefs do the job at the 50s dinner located 5 mins from the cottage... This restaurant was featured on the tv show You gotta eat here... Last but not least is the best kept secret the minden lazy river 1. Rotary Park Beach to Main Street Minden (Gull River) Now, if we were to rate these floats for difficulty, this one would be the most kid-friendly when it comes to hopping in and out. Many who do this float frequently, know that parking a vehicle at Rotary Beach in Minden (off HWY 35, just before the turn to County Road 21 to Haliburton) and parking another in the downtown business area, is the best laid plan. Take the river where it leads you (approximately 1,500 metres) and you will be about an hour in lazy river bliss. While the water is not deep, the current is strong – so our advice would be to make sure there enough life-jackets to go around for the less-confident swimmers. There’s even a River Cone at the end for a soft ice cream finish so make sure to Ziploc your change purse for a sweet end to this popular summer activity. This year there will be shuttles starting end of June 2018 to make this that much more fun and convenient.
