Description

Welcome to your waterfront summer escape, framed by sweeping lake views and walls of sunlit windows. Spend long days surrounded by nature, watching boats drift by and wildlife pass through the bay. Unwind in the hot tub beneath twinkling lights as the sun sets over the water. With warm breezes, endless skies, and peaceful lakeside evenings, Trillium Bay is the perfect place to slow down, reconnect, and recharge. The space Welcome to our newly-renovated custom-designed cozy cottage sitting directly on the Trent-Severn Waterway. This is a waterfront property located on the sunny shores of the north end of Rice Lake, which allows for miles of boating and fishing between Hastings and Peterborough. We are located on a year-round serviced road, only five minutes to the local village of Hastings that has a grocery, pet supply and hardware stores, LCBO, Beer Store, and several cafes and restaurants. And we’re only a short 30-minute drive from the beautiful Ste. Anne’s Spa! Firewood and propane for BBQ are included with your stay to save you the expense, space and hassle of having to bring these with you! Our cottage features three cozy bedrooms, a full three-piece bathroom and a two-piece powder room, a spacious Chef's kitchen and a very large living room. The King and Queen bedrooms feature hand-crafted solid wood beds and wall finishes. They are complete with premium 100% linen sheets and feather and down-filled duvets and pillows for an uncompromisingly cozy and comfortable experience. The Kids bedroom features a twin-over-double bunk bed with 100% cotton sheets and the same feather and down-filled duvets and pillows. Our spacious and bright living room has almost floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy wood-burning stove for those cool evenings. This space is also complete with a 75-inch smart TV and a cozy play corner for your little ones. The centrally-located custom kitchen faces the bright and spacious dining room overlooking the waterfront. The dining room features a solid walnut table and a bench hand crafted by your host. Our Chef’s kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials, including a large fridge, an electric stove, a microwave, a dishwasher, a selection of high-quality Lagostina cookware, a slow cooker, a rice cooker, a toaster, a kettle, a Nespresso coffee station with a wide selection of gourmet and decaf coffees, and a selection of premium organic teas. This space is also complete with high quality natural soap and cleaning products, as well as a Saje diffuser and a selection of premium Saje diffuser blends to really complete your cottage getaway experience. Our cottage is equipped with a washer and dryer, and a charming spacious entry way complete with a solid walnut bench and a full-sized mirror. There is central air conditioning and forced air heating, as well as a wood-burning stove, which allows for comfortable enjoyment of the property all year round. Pets: For guests arriving with a pet - please make sure that a pet option is selected for your stay. We allow only a SINGLE pet on premises at all times and there is a pet fee that is collected and sent to our housekeeping team. Working from Home: Our property is equipped with a SpaceX Starlink satellite system which provides for the fastest download speeds among all internet providers in Canada. Our Outdoor Space: Enjoy the great Canadian outdoors! Relax on the grass by the water with a glass of wine, get comfortable and cozy with a warm blanket by the fire pit or hop into the hot tub on a cool evening as the sun sets for the day. Our cottage features a spacious, fairly level green lawn, beautiful mature maple and birch trees, a fire pit, a wrap-around deck with patio furniture and a Napoleon Barbeque, and an all-season hot tub. Included with your stay are two kayaks, two stand up paddle boards, a pedal boat. (Please note that these, as well as the seasonal outdoor furniture and decor, are only available during the warm season, usually between late May and early October) On the other side, the cottage is hidden from the road by a row of tall ever-green trees offering privacy from the road and the neighbours across the road. Important Note: We do have neighbours on both sides. On the right side, there is a fence that separates our property from our neighbour's. On the left, there is no fence and our property is "marked" by the trees, big and small, that run along the driveway and down to the water. You will see green grass and kind of a "pathway" that stretches all the way to the water. This is our neighbours' property and they use it to access their dock (meaning that you may see people walking down that little stretch). Please also note that due to high winds near the dock the umbrella is no longer an available feature at our cottage. Our Waterfront: We are on the north end of Rice Lake, right near the mouth of the Trent River flowing from the lake. Rice is a shallow and weedy lake. This aquatic vegetation is part of the local aquatic ecosystem with rich biodiversity and is host to numerous species of birds, amphibians and fish. Our shoreline is home to frogs, turtles, catfish, bass, pike, walleye, swans, geese and one Great Blue Herron! The growth of vegetation around our shoreline depends on various factors outside of our control, like how warm winter was, for example. Our shoreline is not privately owned and falls under the jurisdiction of Parks Canada because the Trent-Severn Waterway is a National Historic Site. Due to this reason, the surrounding vegetation or existing species cannot be touched without a special permit from Parks Canada (exception is fishing during the appropriate season and with a valid fishing license). Our waterfront, and the greater Trent-Severn Waterway, offer exceptional boating, plentiful fishing and serene landscapes! Guest Access: Our guests have exclusive private access to the entire cottage, the surrounding property, deck, hot tub, fire pit and dock, but we can be available if needed. Parking is available for up to four vehicles on the driveway (the gravel only, NOT the grass). The cottage accommodates up to 6 adults or children, with no exceptions. Our well and septic systems cannot accommodate a larger group and we only have a total of 6 comfortable sleeping spaces without spilling into the common areas. Please note that this is the maximum number of people that can be on the property at any one time. Please also abide by our quiet hours policy of between 11pm and 10am and absolutely no parties or events are permitted on the premises. Security: Our property has two Nest cameras, one facing the driveway and one facing the waterfront and our front door is equipped with a Nest Yale Smart Lock system and we provide a unique code for each guest/ group. Our living room is also equipped with a Nest smoke detector. Please be advised that none of these devices can be turned off or deactivated during your stay. Garbage: We please ask that our guests collect all their garbage into large black bags that can be left/stored in the shed during your stay or at check out. Garage door facing the waterfront is unlocked. Please make sure door is closed tightly to prevent animals from getting in. The housekeep will then take your garbage to the curb for pick up. We please ask that you take your recycling with you as we don’t have recycling pick up. Guest access Our guests are welcome to use all spaces inside the cottage or on property, except the following: cabinet above the fridge and the shed (these spaces are reserved for the housekeeping team), the basement, and inside the blue sideboard that stands across the front door (top surface holds decor and information for guests, the drawers and cabinets are for host use only, please). We thank our guests in advance for respecting the rules around these designated spaces! Other things to note Please note that we have neighbours on both sides. On the right side, there is a fence that separates our property from our neighbour's. On the left, there is no fence and our property is "marked" by the trees, big and small, that run along the driveway and down to the water. You will see green grass and kind of a "pathway" that stretches all the way to the water on the other side of our trees. Please park only on the gravel (this is our driveway) and please do not block the entrance to the left. This is our neighbours' property and they use it to access their dock, meaning that you may see people walking down that little stretch. We please ask you not to put anything, and especially not to dump any waste or ashes, outside of our property line. The watercraft and dock will only be accessible during the summer season, and will remain closed for the season between October and May or depending on the snow/ other weather conditions. All patio furniture is also stored away during the winter/ early spring seasons and is available during the summer season only. We are on a septic system and we please ask our guests to be mindful of how easily clogs can appear. Please rinse your dishes before putting them into the dishwasher. Please do not dump fat or large food particles into kitchen sink. And please do not put anything other than toilet paper into the toilets. Our water comes from a well on our property, with a small holding tank that brings water into the house. Due to this set up, water can “run out” during high water usage. If this happens, please turn off all faucets/ taps on the property, including the garden hose. Water should refill and reappear within 10-15 minutes. Only the registered guests, up to the 6 maximum guests allowed per reservation, can be on the property at any time during your stay. Absolutely no external day guests, parties or events are permitted on the premises. Any unregistered guests will be asked to leave. For guests arriving with a pet - please make sure that a pet option is selected for your stay. We allow only a single pet on premises at all times and there is a pet fee that is collected and sent to our housekeeping team. We please ask that our guests collect all their garbage into large black bags that can be temporarily stored in the shed during your stay. Garage door facing the waterfront is unlocked. Please make sure door is closed tightly to prevent animals from getting in. Please take all garbage with you. We have a dump within about 15-20 min drive from us - Seymour Community Recycling Center (Summer hours: Apr 1-Nov 30: 8:30am to 5pm Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat; Winter hours: Dec 1-Mar 31: 8:30am to 5pm Mon, Fri, Sat; closed on all statutory holidays)
